Like you really expected the boys in blue (that’s us, BGR, for all you slow pokes) to not have it. Unlike some other media outlets (sorry Engadget), we’re giving y’all all the screenshots you can handle! What’s that? You want to see how Exchange is setup? No problem. Want to check out the Parental Controls? Well, check ‘em out! If there’s anything in particular you’re wondering about, just drop us a comment and we’ll do out best to answer it. Let me start it off: no, you can’t get the firmware.

Can someone explain to me why the iPhone gets all the buz? It is no different than a hundred other devices. Actually it is worse, i equate it to a Sidekick. A closed proprietary system that you cant add on to. At least with palm, windows ans blackberry there are countless 3rd party apps.
I have used a tmo mda for almost 3 years and it still rocks. Anything that can be done on an iPhone can and is being done on other devices. All I see is a great marketing plan by apple.

I am not an iphone user, but the big deal about the iphone is the browser. It displays desktop-looking websites, not the folded down sites that you see on pocket IE.

Does anyone know if the MSFT Exchange function will allow access through VPN?
I just got the iPhone yesterday,…really digging it… MUCH BETTER than the HTC Mogul…(that was a piece of shit).

How about some screenshots of setting up a WPA2 Enterprise WiFi point? Does it figure out the encryption type automatically? Can you install an enterprise’s self-signed certificate?

Boy Genius - Does the new firmware allow you to use wi-fi with the cellular radio turned off. I want to use my iPhone in flight with Gogo wi-fi on American Airlines.

Hey I have a question about Exchange support: Are Exchange emails, calendar events and contacts listed separately from personal ones?
I kinda want to use Exchange for my work email but I don’t want it to be mixed with my personal stuff…

Yo guys, I am the guy that got BG hooked up with this stuff. I’ll answer a few questions that you guys seem to be wondering about… 1. Endgadget is friends with an Apple dev and got to play with his phone, they don’t have the firmware, the phone, nor do they have it jailbroken right now. Gizmodo just had a bunch of lies and posted an expanded version of what was on MMi, because that was the original site to have the stuff, since I told poetic_folly about it the moment we finally got it jailbroken 2. To take a screen shot, you go Settings > Interface > SpringBoard > Screenshots and turn it on. Then to take one you hold "Home" and flip the ring/silent switch. Then the high-res screenshot will appear in your Camera Roll (BG i was wondering why you took like 50 million screenshots after we finished the jailbreak lol) 3. No, this will not be shared, I made him promise it (In case he wasn’t clear enough in the article :P).

Again, to the iPhone haters out there; why do you even bother to stop and read articles about the iPhone? Seriously. Buy a new mouse with one of those new fangled things they call a “scroll wheel” and just scroll on by any article that has to do with the iPhone or Apple. I know most of you think that Microsoft is the only technology company in the world and I’ll bet if you tried really really hard you could find a forum or two that ONLY discusses Microsoft and whatever security patch is out for that day.
However, there are millions of Apple users world wide, many whom have picked up an iPhone. To all those millions, this is important information. Why? Because as Apple adds to the iPhone all the software that the haters have been bawling about it missing, WM and most of the others will become less and less interesting. You dorks seem to think that Engadget and BGR is biased toward Mac but I think it’s more that Apple is doing FAR more interesting things with it’s products and platforms while MS continues to REHASH the same, sluggish, buggy WM platform.
The big new from MS today!!! Windows 6.1. Whoopee effin do!!!! MS throws you another tiny OS bug fix update and your ready to cream your shorts. I’ve been on the forums far too long and listened to you MS fanboys rant and rave over ever little WM turd that has dropped out of Gates’ ass.
Someone’s talking about Apple for a change. Get over it. Or as I previously suggested, scroll over it.

Sorry for the delayed response. I’ll do my best to answer anything that has not been answered already…
Exchange remote wipe should work as that is done from the Exchange server and not something you can control from the actual device
The “Interface” menu in Settings is a 3rd party tool and is not and will not be included in Apple’s release but you may be able to install it if the phone is jailbroken
This version sadly does not have the “Spotlight” icon to search in contacts. I’d imagine something like that will be implemented for all users and also to assist with remote lookup if you’re using an Exchange server
When parental controls are activated, the blocked programs simply disappear off the home screen. There is no access to them at all, no filters
The iPhone does not allow you to turn off the cell radio but enable Wi-Fi separately. There are 3rd party applications that can do this on a jailbroken iPhone
I have not seen anything that would allow you to install a certificate for Exchange on the device itself
Exchange through VPN should work fine, but I have not personally tested this
No new languages have been added that I can see
