Odd, this one. A post went up earlier on pinstack depicting a BlackBerry 8330, clearly on Sprint, with some interesting memory specs. Here’s the text from the post:
8330 Getting Much Needed Internal Memory Upgrade?
See below. Keep in mind, this screen is after the restore of information (approx 5,000 emails, 4000 contacts, 1000 calendar events) and the installation of 4 applications.
43+ MB free, 80 MB total. That’s a whole lot of free memory there. A couple more pics after the jump
[Thanks Anonymous Tipster]

free memory is nice…also a little shocked that its on Sprint first…hmm…ok

what I REALLY wanna know is… will it be Rev-A ??? What could be more important than that one advent??? 4.6 or whatever they’re going to call the OS, cool, yeah, make it happen, but RevA is the BIG deal.

Seriously I am with Tyler Brock on this one, CAN WE PLEASE GET AT LEAST 256!!! 64mb is so LAST MILLENNIUM!!! & NO I am NOT joking!!!! If they can make a 32gb Ipod Touch I am quite certain they can make a 256MB flash based BB!!!

Yea true I would even like to see some MAJOR memory love here, not talking 8GB or anything just enough…like 256? If SonyEricsson could put 256MB of memory in my W600i 3 years ago, BB can do like 512+ or even 256+ in a Curve now.

Will it be released with 4.3 or 4.5? I can’t wait for the Verizon version. Ev-DO rev a would be great. Then for once us cdma users would be ahead of gsm users.

Tyler and Fyrestarter, have you guys actually taken a look at most data devices out today? most are still using 64mb. I can’t even think of too many above that.
And, for those that do have more, it’s not so YOU can use it. It’s because the device takes more for it to operate. Go look at available and you’ll typically see most devices are between 20-40mb.

You say April 20th but phonearena and other sites are saying June so who do we believe?

Hmm…is it going to be CDMA/GSM hybrid like the 8830?

@Yaweee, love I beg to differ right now my 8310 from AT&T ONLY has 17MB free & I only have 2 extra VERY small applications on it. IN OTHER WORDS we need 256MB!!! Why should we pay what we pay for our smartphones & then have to deal with system slowness because corporations choose to be on the cheap & NOT put adequate memory which is now HIGHLY affordable in our phones???

At all the 256mb peeps….. I would be satisfied with just 128mb and a faster processor. I feel the BB’s are sluggish when apps are added and u are trying to do multiple tasks.

Yeah I am getting so frustrated right now because my Curve only has like 6-7MB of free memory at any given time, and the hourglass shows up EVERY time I do anything! I’ve already deleted unused languages, deleted unnecessary apps, etc., but it’s still auto-deleting call histories, text messages, AND Facebook messages. It even did it while I was just about to read a text…I’m pretty mad!

just maybe i’ll stay with verizon. . . . maybe. I bet they disable GPS and make u use their crap apps.

Well cdma phones are starting to become unlocked plus Verizon any device any app program.. Maybe you can send in this curve and make it work on Verizon?

Actually, the VZNAV for verizon is actually the best nav program on the market for a cellphone company, if you want to be cheap and use some free service rock on, but if it was your car i bet you would pay top dollar.

OK, call me pretentious then, but seriously, in 2008, I was expecting 1Gb. Seriously. Just last week, I wrote an article trashing the iPhone and saying how it can’t really outshine the Blackberry line, and 80Mb is all we get? Eighty freaking MEGAbytes? RIM’s got to be kidding.

The 64 mb is for battery life. Would you be willing to tolerate significantly reduced battery life for more memory? Like another poster mentioned, most PDAs have only 64 mb of main memory; use an SD card for everything else. Perhaps thats a better idea; have RIM throw and 8 GB microSD card in each of the new devices?

Heck, am I the only one that’s wondering if this Curve comes equiped with WiFi? Does anyone know?
