AT&T Sells Out of Refurbished iPhones

Just as quickly as the refurbished 8 GB iPhone appeared on AT&T’s site, it was gone. It looks like there was a hoard of people teetering on the fence over whether or not to make the leap to iPhonesville and the $150 discount was more than enough incentive. There is no word on exactly how many refurbished units AT&T made available but however many it was, it didn’t take long to unload them. Just about two days in fact. There are also reports that many stores are out as well but from what we can tell, the bulk of the bounty was offered online. Considering there was a limit of one purchase per customer, that adds up to a whole lot of people with shiny [almost] new iPhones. Non-US residents may benefit most from the fire sale as there are already plenty of refurbs available on eBay. Of course you’ll pay a premium over the AT&T price; in fact the average sale looks to be around $400. Although that is the price of a new unit here in the US, it’s not a bad deal for those who live abroad and want to pick up an unlocked iPhone for local use.

I was about to buy one too, decided that having the Mogul with Rev A was a better deal, not to mention getting it with the SERO plan. Too bad those were sold out as well.

I just got a refurb 8gig iPhone from the AT&T store. I actually got the last one. The store also had 4gb phones – and not many left. It was a good deal.

that certainly didnt stop them from taking more orders than they could fulfill. ive got two separate orders on “indefinite backorder”. Well see if their pending charges clear tonight.

I spoke with 3 different sales folks, all but one being somewhat rude with me on the phone. Their automated system cant find my order, their phone system says its ready to ship and the people attest its on backorder.

Typically AT&T…home of the fewest dropped balls’

i try to tell people selling on Craigslist (metro NYC) that all of you asking for outrageous prices are not gonna get it. The resale iPhone Market is down, the drama of iPhone is gone, if you are selling a opened, even slightly used for 5 minutes, its worth NOTHING @200-$300 is all will pay for used iPhone THE CRAZY IS OVER
