Nokia 3555 now available on T-Mobile

Looking to grab a little low-end 3G handset on T-Mobile America? Your choices just got a bit more appealing. The Nokia 3555, which has been floating around the rumor mill for quite some time now, has just launched on T-Mobile USA. What does $50 (after a $100 instant rebate) buy you? A VGA camera, microSD slot, media player, and on-board AIM/MSN/ICQ clients, and not a whole lot more. Support for the 1700 mhz WCDMA 3G band is nice, but is of little use considering the fact that T-Mobile’s 3G network, umm, non-existent. $50 for a handset like this isn’t a bad deal, but there’s nothing here that would prompt us to run out and grab one.

I work at T-mobile and you do not know how many people would buy this or a cheap ugly phone in general.

It’s cheap and will sell well. I wouldn’t buy it, but consider the millions of phone users who don’t require PDA-esque features.

Don’t forget: They are the majority. We are the minority.

I am completely amazed at the comments left here. Whats wrong with the phone? I think its a good looking, basic phone. Has everyone become THAT spoiled with the advancement of cell phones and technology in general? I mean, I would never get this phone myself, but its a very good BASIC phone that I can easily see many people buying. There is a market for this phone and obviously it isn’t for everyone.

I agree with iLLmatic. Basic low end model that many customers will like. Only a VGA camera? So what? It’ll mms faster since it won’t have to crop down the image. Plus I used to work for T-Mobile and I spoke with a blind customer almost once a week and the wanted something affordable that would play music, here ya’ go. Plus, if you’re a parent, do you really want to get your teen or even tween a PDA? I think not. You want something that won’t make you cringe when they drop it or find out they left it on the school bus. Just like all electronics, not everyone needs or wants an iphone, xperia or N95.

All truth, if it has a good keyboard and sends texts fast that’s what people buy it for. It’s not that it can surf the internet or anything, it’s just that it has a nice keyboard for typing and those multiple page texts go in and out really fast.

Ok ya haters out there relax… I love my curve and am thinking about picking this up as a secondary phone for when i don’t want to carry the curve, it’s actually a classy looking phone in your hand. compared to t-mo’s 6133 and other like looking nokias this phone should sell to ppl who don’t need a daily dose of geritol. Geriatrics are the only ones who seem to like most of t-mo’s current noia selection.
