LG-VX9700 On its Way to Verizon
LG appears to have its game face on in 2008, at least as far as fashion phones are concerned. We’ve already reported on several sweet-looking LG handsets making their way to US carrier hands and it looks like the cycle continues. Phone Arena scooped a PRADA-like handset that just made its way though the FCC approval process and has been given the all-clear for release in the US. Beyond the big bright touchscreen seen in the image above, here are the reported specs:
- 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and Schneider Kreuznach lens
- 2.1 Stereo bluetooth
- microSDHC support
- microUSB port
- EVDO support
A PA reader added that the device may have been scheduled for a late-March release but delays could push it back to April or May. In any event, an arrival sooner rather than later is a safe bet as its estranged brother the Vu should be coming to AT&T this half as well. The VX9700 has the potential to go far in appeasing Verizon Wireless customers who want a nice touch experience but would rather forgo the bulk of the Voyager.
this will be huge for verizon, if they leave the specs as is, with the touch screen this will crush the iPhone just as bad as the voyager has.
i need to buy a new phone but w/o verizon’s 2 year contract….how much do you think these will sell for on ebay

my brother said there is no VX9700 coming out for verizon, he hasnt even heard of it, and hes the store manager there, he did say the EnV 2 is supposed to come out this month. Search EnV 2

the Vx9700 is also called the LG Dare. Anyone know if they stripped the Wifi out of this phone too like Verizon did for the HTC Touch?
If this one comes out with Wifi, im buying either this one or treo 800w.

I work for Verizon and I have seen nothing from them indicating the vx9700 is coming out soon. Rebate forms valid through 6/15 don’t list “vx9700″ or “Dare” anywhere.
Other phones scheduled to arrive soon by LG like the EnV2 and Decoy ARE on the form, as well as the Moto W755, BlackBerry Curve, “Compass” (Rev-A modem), and XV6900 by HTC.
… I don’t think this one is coming out for a while.

Re: to the last comment, I was at Verizon where my brother is a manager and still he has never seen or heard the phone, even on cnet the announcer states its the “vu” for att and nothing comes up when I search 9700 or dare.

Phonearena has nothing to do with LG or Verizon, how would they come close to knowing what Verizon is getting? Everyone says that it passed FCC which it did, but doesnt mean verizon is gonna sell it, verizon has there own test that they run on phones also.

Any fresh news (specs, price, etc.) on the upcoming LG-Dare from Verizon?
I played with the phone yesterday. Verizon is testing it out right now. I looked for it on our internal site but could not find any information on it. Usually when we get a phone for testing. The phone dropps about 2 weeks after we get it. We are the last group to test it out and we have to turn in the results within like a week of testing the phone. I am hoping the vx9700 aka Dare drops first part of June because I am in a dire need of an upgrade and I am so going to get this!!!
Verizon intentionally leaves its employees in the dark as to whats coming out because they want to sell what’s on shelves NOW. duh.

This phone would be perfect (for me) if it could sync w/ my pc sorta like a super simple basic PDA. Is it too much to ask for?
I want to enter an item in my calender/address book once instead of having it to do it on the PC and computer. And yes you super critical people…I know I should just get blackberry/palm. I’ve thought of that – those are just too much phone.
