Say Hello to Hulu, Maybe
Could the world finally gets a taste of hulu this coming week? Might NBC and Fox’s baby finally leave private beta? Do you care? Those who have sampled hulu to date seem to have mixed feelings with regards to the service and analyst opinions are just as varied. If you somehow haven’t read about it until now, hulu is a site that provides clips and full episodes of numerous NBC and Fox television shows. Currently hulu is in private beta but Silicon Alley Insider Senior Editor Michael Learmonth seems to believe that all signs point to a public release this week. Evidence sited includes an enormous feature in the just-released issue of Fortune and a scheduled analyst briefing that will take place on Monday. Hulu is slated for a Q2 release and with three weeks left in March it certainly makes sense. As for us, we kind of like the site. It’s nice to be able to catch a wide variety of shows without having to dig around the internet or bother with torrents and whatnot. Video quality is good, not great, full screen mode is available and the episode selection is hit or miss. Some shows are very well-represented on hulu while others might have only four or five episodes at any given time. There are also a variety of shows listed in the hulu directory that just link to outside sites, which is a bit odd and annoying as they almost always have lower-quality offerings. Learmonth’s article also includes a great quote from Quincy Smith as to why CBS isn’t on board at this point: "If the Web is just another way to watch TV, I think I’m going to slit my wrists."

spell check anyone?

Still sucks, I’ve had the beta for the longest time now with NO way to use it…does not allow for the videos to be displayed in Canada, but that’s ok cause torrents work just fine in Canada lol
