I saw the headline and was like "let me guess, trade in your HD-DVD player and get $20 credit toward a Blu-ray player?" As far as the people overly confident that Blu-Ray will beat DVD, SACD would like to have a word with you. DVD's won out over VHS because there were gigantic benefits over the previous format, *and* the cost to enjoy these benefits was relatively cheap. Hook up a DVD player to any TV, boom, you're done. In comparison, even when the price of Blu-ray players goes down, you will still need an HDTV to get any noticeable difference in image quality, which is the only major marketable selling point of HD movies. So yes, while you and I love our Blu-ray movies, Joe Six-Pack is not about to drop a grand on an HDTV when DVD is "good enough". Hence, the idea that Blu-ray will "beat" DVD anytime soon is hilarious, especially if you are strictly talking movies. (I could potentially see the PC market embrace Blu-Ray at some point, once prices on drives go down, since many PC applications and games could use the extra disc space.) All that said, bring on the re-releases! I want V for Vendetta on Blu-Ray. =) I have definitely been working at Gamestop too long.
