Nokia N95 Coming to an AT&T Store Near You?
Nokia fanboys of America, don’t make a mess in your pants just yet. News that the flagship Nokia handset will be making its way to the nation’s largest carrier is still just a rumor at this point, although it’s looking pretty solid. Engadget Mobile has reported, and subsequently confirmed the report that the N95 will finally be strutting down AT&T’s red carpet some time next quarter. Of course there are more versions of the N95 than notches on Wilt Chamberlain’s bed post, so which one might AT&T snatch up? An Engadget Mobile tipster claimed that it will be the N95-3 (the first N95 with AT&T-compatible 3G / HSDPA) and that an arduous testing process has already begun. The 8GB NAM would have been nice but hey, baby steps right? It remains to be seen whether or not AT&T branding will wreak havoc on the device, but we have a feeling that it will be left pretty well intact. It will also be the most capable handset that AT&T has offered to this point. Funny that this news comes just a few weeks after the N96, Nokia’s N95 successor, was announced. We’ll catch up some day but in the meantime make no mistake, this would be a huge victory for Nokia and for AT&T customers across the country.

Awesome. I’ve been holding off upgrading from my 8525 (not that there’s anything wrong with it) because of the Tilt video driver issue and the Xperia X1 is a good 1.5 year away from release.

I doubt it. I’m the Assistant Data Mgr for the NYC Market for NYC. I would have seen this in an email or heard it directly from my Data Mgr himself. Who knows, by the time this comes out then the N96 will have a NAM version itself. I think this phone is going to go down the same route as the N80. AT&T you’re a great company but there’s no way this is coming out for us. Keep it real.

By the time it comes to AT&T, does anyone still care? It would almost be 2 yrs after the N95 was released. I would rather wait for the 3G iPhone.

too old. I agree with Tu, this would have been great a year ago but this is a dated product that they will be way overpriced at this point.

I would kill for an N95. N96 I would like much more though…

Tu: Did you just mention this in the same sentence as the iphone? hmmm…

I have one of the pre production models AT&T used for testing and the firmware that was on it was pimped out in AT&T banners and backgrounds when i got it. I can say this phone has been in testing since it was released. The one i have works great though. I think they waited for the cost to come down before release because the testing shouldn’t have taken this long!!!

I can only see this great (but old) phone being ruined with branding and functionality barring. Just like the E62.

This would be amazing news. AT&T would like price it $299, perhaps even $199 (e.g. for Premier customers), which would make it an awesome choise. If 8GB follows within a few monhts, Nokia would have really stepped up its high end game with US carriers.

They’re trying to figure out how to keep people from running VOIP apps over 3G, and they’ll release it then.
Nokia fanboys will have already gotten this phone, because they want it unbranded anyways, and people waiting for a 3G version of the iphone wouldn’t like it because it has too many confusing buttons.

I can confirm that AT&T has said that they’re getting the N95 but they keep pushing the release date back. At this rate I’m beginning to wonder if it’s ever going to actually be released. I can’t wait til I can get this though!
