Microsoft fined $1.35 billion by the EU
Just when you thought things were looking up…Microsoft has been fined $1.35 billion by the European Union. The fines are the latest in a string of sanctions brought forth against Microsoft by the EU in what has become one of the longest anti-trust lawsuits in recent memory. The company has been fined before by the EU, with total penalties amounting to around $2.3 billion. This most recent fine appears to be a direct reaction to Microsoft’s unwillingness to comply with the EU Commission’s 2004 recommendations levied in reaction to Microsoft’s anti-competition practices. While Microsoft has recently moved towards embracing a more open-source methodology, it appears that the concession was a bit too little, too late. Yikes.

well it’s funny they did for a short time they even sold the receomended version of windows without the media player that the EU wanted. Geuss what little or no one bought it. germany has som pretty screwd up laws too.
the EU attacks apple as well most of the companys behind this sudden motivation are the folks at real networks ect who make all the other 3rd party media player apps.

How dare these wine-sodden frogs oppose a mighty US corporation? Time to sick Sheriff Bush on them! He really showed the Justice dept who was boss when they tried to stop plucky little Microsoft from conducting business freely and fairly!
Maybe we could threaten to not protect them from the WMD in Iraq to bring a little pressure to bear.
