Nokia Morph Concept Phone
Nokia Research Center and researchers at the University of Cambridge have teamed up to create a joint nanotechnology concept dubbed "Morph". The two teams announced their partnership back in March of 2007 and the Morph is one of the first projects to emerge from the partnership. Launched today, the Morph is part of the "Design and the Elastic Mind" exhibition, on view from February 24 to May 12, 2008, at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Morph, as it is appropriately named, is comprised of flexible materials that can be reshaped on the fly to create a variety of drastically different forms. It should be clear that the design is entirely conceptual at this point, illustrating how future handsets may be capable of transforming to accommodate different usages. This project will set the tone for the team’s collaborations as they work to develop and utilize new materials moving forward. Of course we don’t expect to see this futuristic handset in production anytime soon, but the team behind the Morph thinks that elements from its design may find their way into high end handsets some time in the next seven years. Flexible materials, transparent electronics, self-cleaning surfaces; Sounds pretty intense!

It’s simply amazing, the possibilities. But now imagine the possibilities of hackers…forcing the thing to tighten on the wrist, or just break apart. Hopefully, by the time this technology is available, the security of it will surpass that of hackers. Very interesting and cool concept though. Wonder how far off we are from this at least making prototype…

That is what I would call the perfect device.
The problem is, will it have NAM 3G? HSDPA? HSUPA? or will it run on EDGE like some cars (cough BMW cough) and phones (cough iPhone cough)?
The question that’s on everybody’s minds is…when?
