@KeNNethX, that is because the carrier reps are idiots and know far less than we do. Most of them don’t read up on the technology trends and rumors of what’s coming. They want to sell what they know and have today rather than have a clue and prepare their customers for the upcoming launch. Fastest way to piss off a customer and lose them is to lie to them combined with misinformation and FUD.

Just how long before existing 8XXX-series BlackBerrys get 4.5?? I know all the carriers need to certify, but none of my government reps have even heard about 4.5…they keep saying 4.3.1 has to come out first…and I keep saying 4.3.1 is 4.5 and they don’t believe me.

What has taken them so long for some of these features? Motorola’s Good Technology Group has had some of this stuff available for a few years and they operate on multiple OSes. RIM was the 1st company around in this field. What were they doing, taking a break from making a nicer experience for their users?

Just throwing this out there… I’d eather have BES 4.1 SP5 released, my testing completed (with OS 4.3.1 beta and BES), and deployed into production prior to the OS 4.5.0 launch from the carriers. Customers won’t be on a feeding frenzy while awaiting my group to do their testing prior to my upgrading our BES environments. While it was RIM’s intent to have OS 4.5 launch-ready by mid-February with the availability of BES 4.1 SP5, it works out better to have the OS slightly delayed afterwards. Not to mention that its been a while since any major carrier had their sights on launching the OS update in mid-February.

yeah getting on was a pain… something about it couldn’t find a database? I finally got in and got to see it… i still wish they had a better answer about OS 4.5 on when it would come out to support the whole BES upgrade. what good is it if the devices cant use it?

Too bad half of this shit is worthless to end users without them rolling out the 4.5 OS to the masses. Until then, most of these features don’t mean dick except they will be waiting for you once the new 4.5 DOES finally come out.

According to an insider at RIM it was slated to be (a very) strong Mid-Feb that the 4.5 would roll out, but, ooops, guess what…Yep…ERRORS WITH THE OS and we’re gonna be lucky to see this before WES. So you have a perfectly functioning 4.1SP5 BES with noone really having the ability to use it.

Research In Motion is right with all these “issues” that keep popping up like the OS stalls, the Memory Leaks on 4.2 and 4.3 devices, the BIS outages…The BES outages.

Maybe if they get their cards in order again they can change their name to TECHNOLOGY IN MOTION, but for the time being, I believe RESEARCH In Motion suits them just fine.

Looks good, I have been waiting for this for a long time now, as I am sure most blackberry users have as well. Glad to see rim finally stepped up and addressed these feature upgrades.
