Update: Full Lineup of Verizon Wireless Unlimited Plans
This past Saturday we told you about Verizon Wireless’ plans to offer an unlimited voice option starting Tuesday, February 19. Now, additional details have emerged and it looks like Verizon is going for the gusto. $99 for unlimited voice will just be the start of Verizon’s unlimited offerings; in fact there will be six plans in total:
- $99 – Nationwide Unlimited (voice)
- $119 – Nationwide Select Unlimited (voice, SMS, MMS)
- $139 – Nationwide Premium (voice, SMS, MMS, VZNav, VCAST, email)
- $149 – Nationwide Email and Messaging (voice, SMS, MMS, and data)
- $169 – Nationwide Global Email and Messaging (voice, SMS, MMS, and international data)
- $199 – Family plan with two lines, $99 per additional line.
Users who opt for one of the unlimited plans will see some additional benefits as well. Namely, the soft limit of 5 GB per month for data usage is out and current customers will not have to extend their contracts to upgrade to an unlimited plan. Now it’s time for Verizon customers to break out the calculators and see if any of the new unlimited options make sense for them.
Does Verizon really expect people to go for this? $169 for unlimited everything? C’mon now!! Helio has unlimted everything for $99!! Anyone that gets excited about this is just plain stupid.

People will go for this you cant compare HELIO to verizon, helio service is nothing compared, verizon is doing what makes business sense, staying competitive, the fact of the matter is, if you cant afford it don’t buy it plan and simple.
This is beautiful. If no one else can see it, this verizon’s attempt to take down sprint. Sprint also has an unlimited plan but there’s 2 problems with it. 1. Its only good in 5 metropolitan markets. 2. It starts @ $119. And to that helio comment, verizon is the most profitable company out on the market. Helio evdo towers do not even belong to them. I’m not saying that helio is going the same route as amp’d mobile. But you have the largest wireless network with unlimited minutes. Now it gets interesting.
well the family unlimited plan does not make any sense if its $199, while the regular is $99
I’m with MOBIPCS in Hawaii, I get unlimited nationwide and local calls and unlimited SMS for $55.55. You can also get unlimited Internet usage and everything else I mentioned above for about $90!!! No contracts either!
Helio doesn’t allow tethering. They fail.
I asked them, directly, they said:
“Chris, per our terms and conditions we do NOT allow tethering a helio to your laptop. This would be considered a violation of the End User License Agreement and could lead to an account termination.”
No tethering. So their unlimited plan is VERY VERY LIMITED. No comparison imho.
Also, VCAST is a pretty impressive content bundle–there’s a lot of “free” content on VCAST that you don’t have to pay extra for. Helio probably has more GPS stuff (buddy finder etc.) but I don’t think they have the same access to free video, music etc.

I, too, noticed this.. one more pull on the stitches of the sprint hemmorage. In my state alone, verizon has nearly 5000 port ins from nextel in the past month.
This is Verizon’s sad attempt to get some attention. Their service has been slipping lately (I’ve had more dropped calls than ever) and they need to divert attention away from AT&T’s iPhone. I think they are devaluing their service. All along they said they were the premium carrier, now they are saying that ‘all you can eat’ is the way to go….smells desperate for net adds……
Helio! That’s not a cellphone company. Nobody has the coverage that Verizon Wireless does. Don’t insult the industry with this Helio talk.
These plans are awesome for power users, business owners and heavy travelers. Which is where the money is. Verizon knows what they are doing. They are going after at&t and Sprint’s pocket books. As for as the Helio and guy from Hawaii comment. There is no comparison to Verizon. Their compairing one town or city to the whole nation. I am currently paying $200.00 a month for 4000 minutes and sharing with another line that I pay another $10.00 a month for. By switching to these new plans I get unlimited for the same price. Which would plan would you do? So there are customers out there who will switch to these plans. It just might not be you!

119 and 139 is for people with basic phones and thats damn good.

This plan works for a business, or a heavy user, but the average person would not fork up that kind of $$$ for cell phone espicially in this economy. $119 for unlimited SMS, voice and text? Yikes. I’ve yet to go over my minutes, SMS or unlimited data with Tmo…and my bill is half that. Does Verizon offer an affordable plan for the rest of us?
the unlimited page at verizonwireless.com still shows a 5 GB cap on data. the TOS is shown on the same page as the “buy it now” page.

Voyager vs. iPhone? Are you serious or just misinformed. Also, as mentioned ATT has unlimited coming also. I don’t understand who need to talk that much on the phone, killing off all your brain cells.
Two things. 1- Helio piggy backs of verizon wireless broadband network 2- this is a national plan when helio is pretty much local. Sounds like someone needs to pay more attention to the whole story.
Helio actually uses Sprint’s EVDO network, which is the largest in the nation (there’s nothing local about it). Helio’s Unlimited plan includes nation-wide unlimited voice, data, text and picture messaging. There are no charges for roaming (onto Verizon and Alltel’s networks) or long distance.
Helio went first, Sprint followed, then Verizon, at&t and finally T-Mobile.
Thats interesting sprint cant even roam onto verizon evdo towers. So how does helio manages to do that. And sprint by far does not have the largest anything exept, layed off employees and pissed off customers.
Justin-Helio is a Mobile Virtual(not real) Network Operator, operating on SPRINT PCS network, or what there is of it. You can’t compare that with a (monthly bill)FULL SERVICE customer’s results on VZW.Here in FL, VZ already has EVDO in places like Carrabelle, Apalachicola, and Sopchoppy, and Sprint doesn’t even seem to have plans to put it up in larger places. They are as previously stated, hemmoraging(sp)extisting customers, cash, and net adds. It’s a bit sad, but this is a natural consequence for ignoring network improvements,concentrating on trying to run 2 nets (one dying when they bought it)at the same time, not switching everyone to cdma sooner, having poor cust svc, and generally screwing up at every turn for the last 3 years or so. Look up current coverage on EVDO- not JUST voice, AFTER analog was shut down, and you may see the light. It is sad, though-I like competition so much.
