RIM files patent for touchscreen interface

Yeah, we know there are a lot of questions regarding the upcoming BlackBerry 9xxx series. Will it have 3G? When is it being released? Will it have a touchscreen? The patent describes a very iPhone-esque touchscreen interface, and should do nothing if add fuel to the speculation fire. Of significant note is the time between when RIM filed the patent, and when it was made public. There’s usually an 18-month gap between filing and publishing, whereas with this particular patent, there was a mere 4-month gap. Could this mean that RIM is rushing this one through in preparation for an upcoming release?Read
