Thought I’d give you my experiences with the Unlimited Browsing Plan. I have had this ‘feature’ since November08 on my Nokia N95 8GB phone and I love it. I surf on my phone more than I do on my laptop! It’s not only through the WAP portal that Rogers provides either as you can go directly to the URL of choice not be penalized. I have detailed online billing and so far after 3 months of use I am averaging 35-40Meg/mth of browsing data. Not a single cent paid more than the $7 it costs. I check my weather forecasts, sports scores, ebay shopping and windows live IM. All inclusive of this price.

I am an MBA student at Georgetown doing a business case on Rogers for a case competition and you guys are right, you are getting taken advantage of. There is a closed market up there b/c of the Canadian government’s regulations, but hopefully that will change. I was looking at the plans you are offered and frankly I’d be upset if that was all I was offered. Good luck!

Well Fido will be offering unlimited email as of February 19th for $15(Quietly). The catch: it will only work on 2 units they will be offering Motorola Q9 & Samsumg Blackjack. These 2 units will be running Windows Mobile. I figure that this will be using the the Blackberry Connect service from Fido. SO I am wondering if you could still use it on a unlocked Blacberry. In any case, we are still being robbed by all the carriers, we in Canada, pay more than 3 times the price for the same service in the poorest countries!!! ?!?!? WTF! Sorry for the outburst! But that’s the reality of it!

We are just being abused and I can not wait to see who will come in the Canadian market over the next year to compete with these thieves. Will this new player just slash prices and have Bell, Telus, Rogers/Fido running to save face and keep their respective customer base?! Well I hope so and we should all just defect and show them who really controls their fate!

But I guess that would be too much to ask of Canadians, just stick it to the carrier and enough of being taken for a ride for the last 15 years of double dipping! Look at how it works in Europe! Anyway, sorry for the rant, but I have had enough and hopefully we can get a Carrier that can offer some competitive plans like the USA!

Really looking forward to see what will happen. (Like my friend said: Let’s not be surprised that the pricing would actually be the same!! LOL!

This is more of a backwards step for good device data plans. It’s unlimited browsing with the rogers mobile browser on wap sites only, and nothing else.

Use google maps? Like being charged $5+ to view one space of a map?

I’ll stick with my old vision plan of 10mb for $5, it still sucks, but if I use opera mini and google maps, it won’t cost me an arm and a leg.

I’m a little disappointed as I think i told you in my email. I was planning on buying a new N95 8GB NAM but since the restrictions, I might as well wait another year for the iPhone. I really don’t want an EDGE enabled phone as I’d rather physically go to the hosting station of the website then use dial-up speeds.

Its 3G or nothing for me.

I much prefer telus’ $15 business bundle. Unlimited everything, and after my first bill it is true. In canada anyway.
