It’s not that Sony says absolutely no to adult films, they just aren’t helping them out at all in producing BluRay versions. But middleware companies are helping them out, so there is no worry about lack of adult blurays.

I have two HDDVD players and started adding HDDVD’s to my collection. Now that they are on sale at Amazon.com I will most likely add even more. Next year once the newer BD Players that actually support getting firmware updates etc are out I will look for a something like the LG BH200 that runs HDDVD, BD, etc and continue to expand my collection.

Lets not forget anyone who bought a BD player last year is going to get screwed when the new movies come out that require profile 1.1 or profile 2.0 and you CANNOT UPGRADE your firmware unless you bought a PS3. Way to go BDA.

Now I ask you, just how many times has HD DVD been declared dead by Blu-Ray pundits, Sony and the BDA gang of thieves and crooks? And Yes, I said Thieves and Crooks and BDA in the same sentence! (They know exactly who they are and why I say this!)

Geez, get a clue, HD DVD is the chosen format to succeed DVD, by the voting members of the DVD Forum! It is the only complete and cost effective format that has a chance to replace DVD before something else removes the need to have pre-recorded optical media. It is the ONLY HDM solution, today that is priced close to the general consumers budgets.

Toshiba did not spend it’s money on intentionally marketing and selling an incomplete product, to many naive and unsuspecting consumers, in as much, was spent on delivering to the consumer a low cost, fully functional and studio friendly video format!

Give it a rest on all of the, “HD DVD is dead,” and “R.I.P.” crap, will ya? It only continues to make all who spout this crap in a public venue, look more like fools! Oh, and it seriously irritates many of your fellow HT enthusiasts, regardless of their format affiliations.

My message to fans of either competing HDM format: So show some respect please, to your HT loving and establishment hating brethren!

Jesus why do people keep posting crap like this. That information is old, there are adult BD movies out right now, and HD content will have little, if any, effect on the format war with so much digital distribution already going on.

Your information is months old. This idea/issue has been discussed to much depth for the past few years. Even though Sony originally said they would not press adult Blu-ray discs, Blu-ray is not a Sony proprietary product. There are other companies in the BDA that are willing to press adult Blu-ray and even Sony said they were not stopping the adult industry from adopting Blu-ray.

Your point than changes to the “Michael Bay ‘Microsoft and HD-DVD’” point. I have no comment on this because the article is about the HD-DVD Superbowl ad.

While mainstream movies appear to be headed towards Blu-Ray let’s not forget a major player in this inudstry — the adult film makers.

Whether you like them or not is moot. Remember the adult film makers bascailly made the VHS/Beta Max decision for everyone. It does not appear they will have the same influence this time, but they will have an affect in some way.

The adult film industry has publicly stated that Sony is not alllowing any of their customers to press adult Blu-Ray discs. That is the main reason why the adult film industry is firmly behind HD-DVD.

Of course online downloads of adult content is hurting adult DVD sales. This additional data point might just force the adult film makers to skip hi-def discs all together and go straight to all online sales. That would certainly put them in the leadership position of moving away from disc media all together.

Just something to think about…
