Wii Propells Nintendo Earnings in 2007

The first three quarters of the fiscal year have been very, very good for Nintendo. The Wii has had incredible sales this year and of course it was one of the hottest gifts this past holiday season. Nintendo’s net profits for the nine-month period ending December 31 ballooned up to $2.43 billion as total Wii sales reached and surpassed the 20 million unit mark. Net earnings were up 96.3 percent over the same period in 2006; that’s right, Nintendo’s profits have doubled in a year. What’s more is that Wii sales don’t appear to be showing any signs of slowing down. Beyond being desired by gamers of all ages, the Wii is attracting new consumers to console gaming like no system has in ages. Nintendo is drumming up business from all age ranges and demographics like no competitor could dream of; You’re not going to catch grandpa rocking Halo anytime soon but entire senior bowling leagues have been formed around the Wii! The DS has also been a big seller for Nintendo as they have unloaded 24.5 million units so far this fiscal year. Long story short, Nintendo is killing it. The Wii has been nothing short of spectacular for the Japanese gaming giant. Systems have sold well, games have sold well and the Wii’s unique wireless controller setup has intrigued the masses like nothing else in recent history.

Too bad you can’t hardly find one anywhere. They are sold out all over the internet(unless you want a 75% markup on ebay) and every store here (Salem, OR) is sold completely out. I had to disregard a best buy employee’s advice that no wii’s were coming in Monday, only to show up at 5:30pm and get 1 of 3 “surprise” console deliveries.

Its a fun system but for me it lacks the killer games a 360 has. Halo, bioshock,GOW, grand theft, mass effect,

Imagine if you could actually find them there would be alot better numbers and profites if they produced more.

I definitely think there is something to be said for balancing supply and demand, but I think Nintendo’s supply is so low it’s hurting them. pick it up guys!

Grand Theft was an original PS game…screw the copycats at MSFT.

If I could find one, I’d probably buy one. But yea they’re like the great disappearing console…or some shit.

Jeff B. Your a jackass it hurts to see people talk how you talk, in regards to any company or thing. Msft does not make gta rockstar ported/created it for the console. The more platforms they make it for the potential for profit grows,

Msft game studios does put out some good games but that sho aint one.

Additionally I’m pretty sure gta was first a pc game go check out the older gta games where the view was from above like a map. They were pc only.

I know target gets deliveries every Thursday. I was able to get one from them after being told by a store rep of the delivery schedule. They actually had two left on that following Saturday. They only allow one purchase though to prevent people from buying and selling them on EBay (more than one at least).
