iPhone 1.1.3 Jailbreak Not Ready for Primetime

Make no mistake, the highly anticipated and somewhat controversial iPhone jaikbreak for the latest 1.1.3 firmware does work. We have plenty of reports of successful jailbreaks from a variety of sources and we’ve even seen it with our own eyes. The new procedure is a bit young though, and many, many people are reporting problems. The biggest issue it seems, is that AT&T users who had previously upgraded to 1.1.3 apparently find themselves without service after jailbreaking. There are fixes for this issue but many have further problems once the fix is applied. Among the reported issues are problems with ringtones, errors in Google Maps functionality, issues with DRM-protected file playback and problems with email not storing your passwords. Smart users who had not yet upgraded to 1.1.3 report far fewer issues and often have little or no trouble with the relatively simple upgrade / jailbreak procedure. If you’re one of the many who just couldn’t wait and had to update pre-jailbreak however, you may want to wait for the dev team to work these issues out before going through with anything. We all know how fast they work so the wait shouldn’t be long.

My upgrade using this technique from 1.1.1 worked mostly. Killed off all my installer.app applications though and now my EDGE settings don’t stay so data via GSM is a no go for me now.

Thanks for the heads up Zach,
I was planning on updating mine to 1.1.3 jailbreak but looks like im better off waiting it seems, I’m surprised that the other sites didn’t voice any concerns over the jailbreak either..

Exact same for me too. I had 1.1.1, and used the jailbreak upgrade to go to 1.1.3. After it was all finished, I lost the home screen buttons to all of the apps I had installed except for the installer (could have been fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling each app probably) and my EDGE no longer worked. And restored via itunes b/c I needed to use my phone so now I’m stuck in 1.1.3 til I figure out how to downgrade.

Hey, what is the name of the theme you are using in that screen shot?
I did it last night and downgraded back to 1.1.2, it was kind of a mess..

It worked on my Iphone with no problems. I had an OTB 1.1.2 that I had run the jailbreak program on and the 1.1.3 update worked with no problems although the Google Maps “my location” doesn’t work.

Can somebody please tell my stupid friend (who bricked his iPod Touch the first time he tried it on 1.1.2 then miraculously fixed it) that the damned 1.1.3 firmware works on his damn Touch?

Here are the issues that i’ve noticed after the jailbreak (1.1.1 to 1.1.3) …
~ i had to install some of the apps; most didn’t install or didn’t install well (e.g. customize, categories)
~ Edge worked fine after installing the fix under Tweaks (1.1.3), though the icon doesn’t show when i’m connected
~ lost speaker sound when using ipod (no sound on earphones either); alarm sound is gone
eventhough the jailbreak worked and my phone remained unlocked, i wouldn’t recommend it. i am reverting to my previous firmware version this weekend and hopefully it won’t be that much of a painful process.

Try this (it worked for me): Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings. Afterwards, my ringtone etc. were reset to standard, but my sound was back alive!
My guess: I had installed AudioAmp on 1.1.2. This doesn’ t work on 1.1.3. By resetting, the changes made by AudioAmp were reverted.
Anyhow, I’m very relieved to have it working again…

Yes, I was left without sound after doing the update as well. But, I followed the advice of Kuhne and low and behold, my sound is back! Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings.

The dev teams upgrade worked great for me, even better than nate trues leaked one…. Then 2 days later while I was texting a friend how great the upgrade was my iphone lost all sound and vibration and go sluggish. Tried restarting it several times, resetting all settings from settings/general/reset, even the plug thing. Later I restored to 1.1.2 and the sound came back. I guess the upgrade had its bugs too. I hope there will be a fix for this upgrade, because I really like the features of it. I appreciate all the work that the Dev team does , and would like to thank them.
