To what aln said and in general…

All people on here are doing is standing up for what they believe in. When you buy a phone you expect it to perform better than the previous model. Not worse! Thats all!

You wouldnt buy a PC and have it set to the lowest graphics resolution if you could set it higher.

Hopefully HTC are actually listening to their customers, only time will tell!

You mean a company should be profitable? I thought the world revolved around me and those manufactures were building phone for ME for free. Well then, I am going back to my 1981 shoe sized cell phone, I think I can play Counter Strike on it just fine.

I love my Tilt even if it isn’t ABSOLUTELY perfect.

Well then,
was a Nokia User for approx. 15 years, my last unit was a Communicator 9500; so i thought i should switch over to a Windows Mobile Unit. Someone in this organisation i work for, bought a Kaiser some months ago. So i went on to figure out about HTC phones. First i was in for a touch, but missed the keyboard. Later i saw touch dual and liked it for UMTS, bud ut i dislike the unit for not having Wifi, which my Communicator has.

A touch dual with wifi would have been the perfect device. The touch cruise wasn’t an option since it hasn’t a keyboard. As far as i am concerned, i would say, the consumers, WE pay their bills, paychecks etc. So c’mon HTC and listen to the issues ppl have with your products. And get your xxx up and fix them!

You are right on the money Cbus. I have gone through dozens of PPCs since the black and white Palm PC days. HTC put pocket pc’s on the map with the iPAQ series. Now they seem to be going backwards in quality. People should stop making excuses for this reversal we are witnessing here.

And your car analogy is just perfect. It really is about spending the same – or more – money for less features. So this downsizing is okay? Fine, a 3 dollar bag of chips has less chips and more air. Okay, I am used to that type of downsizing. But a $600 device running at half the speed of PDA from five-six years ago without any major improvement in battery life?

I am done with HTC as well. They should know better. Also, this problem with tapping the touch screen and slowing the system down is an old HTC issue. My Wing has this problem as well and I think the Wizard had it too. There is no excuse for this.

C’mon – Some of you people are completely ignorant! I am a current user of the Sprint Touch and former owner of the xv6600. The xv6600 was enormous and had excellant video playback and was quite fast. I bought that device 4 years ago and now I go out and spend more money for a device that performs worse than technology of 4 years ago and I am supposed to be “OK” with that. Look – nobody cares if your a software developer or whatever, we – the vast majority – are simply unhappy paying good money for poor performance. It is not “OK” to put up with this nonsense and thank God that people are not! HTC should simply do the right thing. Consumers have been so used to getting screwed that comments like some of the above are simply outrageous. Can you imagine if the slaves just sat back and did nothing? I know – I know – but the reality is you wouldn’t be “OK” if you purchased a car that was the same 4 years later and have it go slower and the stereo was intermitant and video playback on the dvd player was screwed up. Consumers – roll your sleeves and don’t stop until we get some resolution!!!!

Ok this statement says,” Screw you and your problem but the good news is we look forward to deceiving you in the future with a new device, so bend over and spend your money. And since you lied to me about the TyTN II how do I know you won’t lie and steal from me in the future. Quite frankly I wouldnt allow HTC to pee in my toilet. I’d be afraid that on the way to my restroom down the hall they would molest my children, screw my wife and then burn my house down while performing sodomy on me. Once a liar always a liar. Ruin your rep with ppl then what good are you. Anyone in here believe a man is only as good as his word. So much for HTC’s word Huh? What word am I referring to. The Press Release of course which prompted me to be stricken with interest and money spending glee.

This is a great tragedy. Between HP not releasing an official ROM update for the HX2795b and HTC not fixing this issue it leaves me with only one choice. To cancel my service with Cingular and will unfortunately not be buying PDA’s anymore. Manufactures will Borrow Beg and Steel from the public. I understand we all want money but when you buy a laptop you get to upgrade it. Why does the Pocket PC have to be any different. Because the manufacturer dictates it. Sad world. FU to HTC and HP.

@SET I’m sure the hardware is there in the TYTN II, it’s just not being used.
From reading the statement we can hope that the new devices they plan to release will contain the driver. If the OS is similar it could be shoe horned in,

In an ideal world HTC will be including the driver with the forthcoming release of WM6.1

Hey man. Can’t believe the crap they are trying to put in everyone’s head. They didn’t claim anything. Any person with 2 brain cells can see there is a performance problem with the graphics. The Tytn II is not a bad phone but the camera and videos are so slow. If it they can’t make that work properly why include a camera. The screen is so nice to watch videos on but you can’t. Why not then just put a 1″ screen on. Don’t use a camera and big screen as a selling feature if you can’t use it’s full potential.

I’ve been a software developer for more than 25 years. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that you can’t please everybody. No matter what, there’s going to be some folks who will never be happy.

I chose the Tilt after a lot of consideration, and am very happy with my decision. It’s my 3rd HTC phone. If there are users that can’t play their super hi-res, super high frame-rate videos, then perhaps they should consider another device that was designed for that. If you want a perfectly useful phone with a wealth of Windows Mobile applications that work well, consider the Tilt.

Oh, and I’m also a happy Windows Vista user, go figure…

I do not understand. They are claiming the hardware does not even exist on the device. If this is the case, how can they make a driver for it. Maybe the device is running as best it can?

Unfortunately, this is the way the consumer products world works today. Virtually all electronic products ship when they are “good enough”. As a consumer, it is now your responsibility to EXPECT THIS! I own a Tilt, and I wish it performed as fast as I know it can. But I bought it, it’s mine now, and it is what it is (and I happen to love it).

Technology changes too fast for a company to spend money on making tweaks to a product that’s out the door, and good enough. Yes, that may be a bit short-sighted, but that’s capitalism for ya.

OK guys, we can take out any other manufacturer and move them to the “they were good but gave a Palm excuse” pile and that leaves us with a whopping…nobody else to buy cell phones from. So we have to take what we get and hope we don’t get screwed from the manufacturer we choose.

So we have to stop hating on everybody for the obvious shit excuses and/or shit devices they put out and just buy the coolest sounding thing we can.

I don’t think this will be my last HTC device since I like it so much but these types of incidents are going to make me more vigilant when I get my next phone.

Ok i had already read that site and now have again…. PLEASE some one give me a good reason people can sue for this? I don’t believe anyone has the right to sue for basically not liking the product they bought. Has HTC lied about it maybe? I see nothing of them promising something before you buy it and then go “oops, sorry”. It just seems to me that people bought a phone and it wasn’t as powerful as they hoped. Wooptie crap.

I will acknowledge the fact that htc releases some very good devices. But this statement they released is pure arrogance and unfortunately their lack of humility will only lead people like me to spend my hard earned cash elsewhere. All in all, it comes down to it not making any sense. Even though they gave this statement (which doesn’t even really say anything much, if you look closely), HTC personnel still says a patch is underway.

Keep in mind the possibility that this is just a statement to get some of the pressure off the story, while they may still fix this in the upcoming patch (who knows).

In either case, counting forum, blog and news article responses from IT personnel at big companies, there are currently at least over 1000 TyTN II/Vario III/Tilts on hold from being ordered. Say they make $10 profit on every Kaiser, that’s a $10k loss, which is very likely more than it costs them to release a patch with drivers.

I’ve never posted before but omg! these post are some of the worst I’ve read. there is no company that can totally please everybody and include everything in one phone, sure the technology is there but then everybody would complain about cost. everybody just needs to grow up, use your phone to make calls watch tv on a tv and get a girlfriend and move out of their parents house

That’s preposterous. They’re dumping unfinished products on the market, and refuses to finish them for no stated reason? (although we all know that what they’re trying to say is that they’re milking the market for all it’s worth).

I like my Dual, and I thought something was wrong with it since a 3 yr old pda’s more efficient. I kept thinking of returning it because it was broke. Now I know it’s not working as well because they’re being assholes.

Apart from not liking windows on my phone, I never like htc because it seems like every model they release is just what the 1 before it was supose to be. I remember seeing the 8125 thinking it was awsome until I saw the battery die, the processor was slow as hell and every new model I expect it to be better, but its always slow. So I stick with RIM.

I’m with u randy…too many manufacturers are shitting on consumers nowadays. For me it was Nokia with their slow ass e62 that I’m typing on now that has NEVER recvd a firmware update. And now all the money I saved this winter from bargain shopping(buying cheaper gifts) to save for a TytnII, I guess I’ll have to spend elsewhere. Hmm i might just keep the Nokia and take it to Jacob for a gold makeover. Lol
