Apple intros new MacBook Air

Have you been holding off on purchasing that new Apple laptop to wait and see what Steve pulled out of his hat at Macworld? You won’t be disappointed. Apple today introduced an ultra-light version of their popular MacBook laptop. Dubbed the MacBook Air, the new computer is being billed as "the world’s thinnest laptop." Based on the images coming out of the Keynote, we’d have to agree with that claim. The little bugger is 0.16-0.76 inches thick, depending on where you take the measurement. It sports a full size 13.3" display, multi-touch gesture track pad, full-size back lit keyboard, integrated iSight, 1.6GHz / 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo chip, 2GB of RAM, 80GB 1.8" hard drive (64 GB SSD optional), and built-in 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. All told, this is one crazy little machine. It even fits inside a manila envelope! Expect to find this on Apple store shelves in about two weeks for $1,799…the question now is can we wait that long? Hit the jump for some more shots

I actually like macs and would love to have one but 1799. That out of control. I paid 699 for my toshiba witht he same screen size. Ya it is a little heavier but 1000 worth no way. Its a neat looking computer but thats it. Its all show with a huge price tag.

    Why pick this over a Vaio SZ6? The Vaio SZ6 beats this thing in every aspect…except being just slightly bigger;

Mehh another over hyped Apple piece of junk.

    and yeah…enjoy the iPhone experience.

jeremiah, your Toshiba didn’t come with an SSD drive in it as the SSD drive costs more then your Toshiba. :D

Both of the variations of this laptop have components that are quite expensive. And with the SSD in it there isn’t any worry about dropping it .. with the exception of the LCD.

I agree with most that it is overpriced and apple again is using a lot of hype to sell a product that is about looks. Anyone disappointed in Macworld this year and willing to be pissy about it is an idiot! Just bec last year they had a break through product like the iphone doesnt mean every year now there going to come out and flip the technology market on its back. Quit being such whiney little techno brats jesus!

Yea, this is really cool and looks sweet but that’s it, this thing doesn’t even have any substance to it. It’s just standard parts but really thin.

Why couldn’t apple pull something cool out of their ass like a 3G iPhone with some more functionality and a 32gb iPod Touch.
Guess who would be at apple right now waiting for their 32gb iPod Touch?…if it was announced…

The best thing is that, even though anyone with half a brain notices that this Laptop has nothing better then the competition…it’s still going to sell like crazy.

Again, a sony Vaio SZ6 tears a new one to this Macbook air….

    Carbon chassis
    Oled display
Dedicated video card that can be activated or deactivated at will for extra battery life
    DVD Burner
    Core 2 Duo T7700
    240GB Hard Drive

But hey…it’s a Mac! GoGoGo Steve Jobs we be ballllinnnnn…

    Just like the iPhone…

Well it looks pretty… I’m not a serious “techie” like most of you guys so I’m pretty unbiased sooo speaking from the “average guy’s” standpoint… It looks pretty and will sell for that reason. With most brain dead consumers not considering that it only has one USB port, no optical drive, and a non replaceable battery. They will turn a blind eye to these options in order to have the latest. It is actually a fly little device. I will definitely be searcing the classifieds for this one in about three months when brain dead consumers are ready for something new.
