Rogers set to offer Nokia N95?

We have yet to see a North American carrier pick up Nokia’s flagship N95 camera phone, but if this tip we just got happens to pan out, then it seems we could see a carrier-subsidized version of the beast before too long…that is, of course, if you happen to be a Roger’s wireless customer. An eagle-eyed reader notcied that the N95 has shown up in a drop-down menu on Roger’s game downloads site. Seeing as the N95 is one of the most popular available unlocked handsets, this could mean nothing more than Rogers offering support for any customers that have purchased the handset from a 3rd party vendor. That said, it could also be an omen of impending availability. Would a sub-$500 Nokia N95 sound good to you? We know it would to us…

Thanks Joe!

not interested. The device itself is over a year old already. I know the NA version is new but the N95 is over a year old. No way im paying anything close to that when it has been out that long. For that price I want to get the latest and greatest, not last years greatest.
Good phone but still too expensive.

Nice. If this is the N95 8Gb (which most likely it is) then I’m surely buying this over the iPhone even though the V2 is due in April/May.
Nokia makes a good product. 99.9% of the phones in North America are old anyways.

Umm, this is old news. Its been in our retail manuals for 1 month +. BoyGenius needs some Canadians who work for Rogers to write some columns, I vote I do it, cause clearly I have the info far before you cats :).

I work with a Rogers carrier and although the 8gb nokia N95 is not confirmed the N95 is coming to Rogers Wireless Some Time soon… But unfortunatly Rogers has a way of ‘pushing’ release dates of high end models… And the price Tag is rumored to be around 499.99 cad with a 3 year term price of 199.99 to start. With Rogers ‘lack’ of great nokia phones right now I think this is a much needed boost to the already stagnent line up.

And yeah BG you defenetly need a Canadian or two on file to help out.

As an 18 year Rogers customer and Telecom Broker for all canadian and us carriers, I can tell you it is unlikely Rogers willrelease any of the Awsome Nokia Symbian phones in their line up. Main reason is the WiFi. Most carriers are resistant to offer a phone with WiFi as it directly jeopardizes revenue. Nokia, largest global vendor of Open source phones, is opposed to this carrier practice and has been forces to sell their products, easily superior to carrier offerings , direct to the public. This has been the respnse directly from both GSM carrier’s in the State’s and Canadian Marketing departments.Horses mouths…as we say. That said, Nokia is noticing a drop in overall sales and may be designing new Carrier products minus WiFi (like the E62) for regular release. I heard something about summer 08 but I never hold my breath about it. VoIP and WiFi are making the Carriers nervous. Rumour… Google is interested in Nokia GSM devices…this would be a great SNUB on the Locked code from the carriers.
