BlackBerry 8xxx hails from Rogers!
While combing through our very special delivery one more time, we noticed something that looked a little out of place. There was a black rectangle box covering up something on the BlackBerry 8xxx slide. When we moved it, guess what was there? Yes, folks. The Rogers branding. While it isn’t the biggest news, this just confirmed something we already knew, and heck, who could resist posting an ultra-super-clear shot of the BlackBerry 8xxx? Enjoy!
I hope AT&T will carry this? Any specs?

if they drop this phone on att, i will get it day one and keep my curve as backup. its got a better screen rez, gps, wifi (i dont care about that cause its got 3g) and i assume it will support tethering. I cant wait for a 3g berry. we can all assume its running 4.3. what do you guys think will seperate this beast of a berry from the 9000 series? this is a big step in berry land. and why does everyone not care about this thing? 3g people!!! thats enough to make me want to get one alone!

That’s what I want to know as well. If this is the 8xxx series, then what will come out of 9xxx? This is more then good enough to be 9xxx, we shall see. Also interested in the keyboard, to see if it’s a big difference from 8800 and if they plan on curve keyboard??
The real question is it running a better version of OS 4.x, I mean its an all new platform right. So who say’s its not OS 4.4 or higher. Bottom line is since AT&T doesn’t offer an insurance on their PDA phones and this phone has the setup to be a true world phone then buy direct and unlocked.
Any more rumors on dates?

I like the design, and the fact it uses a larger & wider qwerty keypad vs. a rumored touchscreen on the 9xxx. I will surely pick one up if it hits AT&T soon…
Drop the ‘Rogers brand un-used’space and increase the screen size by an inch. Bberry needs to evolve if it is to stay ahead of MID’s, UMPC’s, smart(I)phone.. The design has basically not changed for the past 5 years.

Exactly, hasn’t changed for 5 years yet Blackberry still isn’t touched by many other devices out there when looking at it as a business device. When it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Just enhance it!
MrH. agree, there is no doubt that it is a great business tool. If ‘enhance it’ means better screen, I’m all for it.
3g, wifi.. it is already standard expectation. At any place of the world, I need something to type on and to look at without reading glasses. Anything else on the front face is zero-value add.
I don’t own an iphone (not enough connectivity) but that it has been able to make such a market impact is to large extend it’s design and it has all other players scrambling. Laws of consumer behaviour is the same whether it is mobile devices or for example cars.
It’s so beautiful, I think I might cry.
