Vodafone Roadmap: HP Oak!
Nope, we’re not talking about a tree here! It looks as if the HP Silver won’t be the only HP handset sporting some HSUPA action. You now have a pretty decent line, with the Standard version, and now the Professional one making the rounds. The HP Oak sports a nifty slide-out QWERTY keyboard with a traditional number pad on the front, in addition to integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. We’re not really judging here, but it looks like you might have some difficulty with that 1010mAh battery. Release date? Thought you’d never ask! September, guys. It’s a long way to go, and ₤260 couldn’t come soon enough. Whittle the HP Oak, so to speak, after the jump!

blah, blah, blah, screen size please.
looks nice but no touchscreen, no thanks.
takes too much time and button pushes to get things done.
I didn’t see anything about a camera.
Is there going to be one?
It says it has a touchscreen *twice*…Once at the top, then again in the list.
it has a touchscreen
my bad, i see that now. thanks marcus.
looks like a good device then. dont care about a camera but would be nice for video chat.
This thing is so nice….. Here’s to hoping it comes to the states or at least supports US 3G.
Um, what makes this different from any of the other sliding keyboard/WinME phones out there, other than the HP logo. It’s not like Apple with the iPhone, where there is a proven track record of making a popular, easy to use consumer device. HP as ZERO experience in this market (unless you count their rebranding of Apple’s iPod…)
I think hp has gotten a little boring. I’m waiting for somebody to make a device as lovable as my treo 650.
The real downer for this device is going to be the battery life. It looks good, but a camera and video capabilities will really help it. Sure HP doesnt have a lot of experience in the media-phone realm, but hey if the build is good, it looks good, maybe it can be good…(heres to wishful thinking)
Looks pretty cool but also flimsy… The problem with those side out qwerty phones is that they dont have a permanent case. If they have a case they go into they still have to come out, vs. a Moto Q or Treo or blackberry where you can use the phone in the protection of the case… Take the phone out of the case and drop it… its all over with…
If it has 7.2 mbps hsdpa then that will be running on the T-Mobile gsm network, which will launch this year….
Sweet jaysus. Touchscreen, no touchscreen. It’s all pretty irrelevant when you’re talking or texting, in’t it? I mean … if you’re looking to be productive as opposed to wankin’ off.
Not really. HP has plenty of products 69xx and 65xx series of Windows Mobile smartphones, as well as a long and distinguished line of iPaqs from the past. That said, what’s going to set it apart from other WM phone? I don’t see anything yet.
That battery is awfully small too. The Kaiser has a 1300mha battery that dies very quickly when all the functions are used.
I can wait for this, but yes, I will need this to have a camara, and can we do something about the battery life.
Whats the screen resolution god dammit!!!
Looks like 800×480 to me…..i really hope it is! It better not be a lousy qvga display, that would definitely kill this product!
This is a dream phone. Only thing I have against it is the absence of a front camera.
I don’t imagine replacing my E65 with a phone that won’t send video calls.
But otherwise: DREAM PHONE.
iPAQ’s over a decade PDAs expertise including Touch Screens and Handwriting Recognition… plus a couple of 3rd party software greatly developed for open Win Mobile like SPB Software or PointUI:

Me, my Tilt, and the picture need a moment alone…in the bathroom…
it is a very nice phone,i just like it
it will more easy to control by touchscreen
We’re missing an important component for the sucess of this product in the market: SIZE. The front looks thin, but the entire phone could end up being as thick as a roastbeef sandwich!
anyone notice the missing point under product positioning looks like its whited out hmmm wonder what goes there.
Who cares about a camera? The major issue is the pathetic talk-time stats for the battery listed. 3.5 hours? And don’t forget the battery drain if a user actually employs the features built into this sweet looking device.
As a business user, I’m amped to see a touch-screen pda/phone with WM 6 pro AND a full keyboard in a device that doesn’t look like a drink coaster in low-rent hotel bar.
Exactly where can I find the retailer to buy this from.I haven’t anything about this item since January
