Vodafone Roadmap: BlackBerry 8xxx
Remember the BlackBerry 9000? It looks like that wasn’t a BlackBerry 9000 at all, but rather another device in the BlackBerry 8000-series! According to this document, which completely validates all our predictions of specs for the device, the BlackBerry 8xxx will see a commercial launch on Vodafone in May of this year. The specs one more time? 624MHz processor built on the new Tavor chipset, full HSDPA with tri-band UMTS (850/1900/2100), a "half VGA" screen (480 x 320), a frickin’ 1500mAh battery, GPS, Wi-Fi, a 2 megapixel camera, and will be targeted to the high-end BlackBerry users. Again, we’re looking at a May release for Vodafone, so we can’t imagine AT&T is going to be far behind, they might even get it before! Hit the jump for the full slide!

I have a Blackberry Pearl and I love it. I think Blackberry has the best “user experience” of any smartphone out there. I am hoping to hang onto it until my “jesus phone” arrives. If RIM can give me everything in this new phone, plus a full-front touch screen, a camera and a qwerty underneath, I will buy 10 of them!!!

Why does it say “No camera here, fellas” when on the spec sheet it says “High Performance 2 Megapixel Camera”??

The Tavor Chipset is huge news, I think we will see Blackberry get the web browser right cause Tavor is even faster than the processor in the iPhone.

I don’t usually pay too much attention to BB news but this actually has my attention. Hopefully they offer an unlocked version to this phone soon after it launches.

Good news for bb users. That battery needs to go. Does anyone else see iphone form? The rounded corners.

veks, yes iphone colors and style. has the band around the outside and black top and bottom.
But looks nice, but what I want to see is them get a real update to the OS, too slow.
wifi, your right about faster than iphone but dont forget that when this is actually released it will be coming up against the second iphone.

Looks awesome. Can’t wait to see more. Unless something better comes up between now and its release date, then this may be the one for me!
Tired of waiting!

I hope it has the curve keyboard and not the dreadful 8800 one.

Oh… My… God. This thing is already mine. My birthday in May just can’t come to quick. I want this now.
Best regards,

Yeah– this would be THE phone of the decade if it had the dang Curve keyboard– I can’t stand the 8800 keyboard. But Hallelujah for HSDPA! Slingbox and HSDPA here I come!

What an ugly phone! And such small portions. I mean, such a small screen. I’ll stick to my Curve, TYVM.

No 1700 MHz UMTS. Well, this is the Vodafone version. And T-Mo does get its share of BlackBerry devices. So, I can still hope for BB to make one with 1700 MHz UMTS even though this already has AT&T’s UMTS bands, right? Right? RIGHT? I hate T-Mobile… /rant

Will this ever be available on TMO in the states?

Wow, 1500mAh battery and 480×320 screen? I wonder what the physical size will be. It’s a shame Tmobile’s 3G band isn’t included.

Looks cool…must buy…

Didn’t like the prototype pics….still don;t like the real device, although that tavor proc. is quite nice, hope it goes device wide for furture BB devices.
