Nokia to make QWERTY Nseries device, you bet we’ve got the scoop!

Nokia has done its best to separate Nseries and Eseries devices for a long time now, but despite their efforts, fanboys and critics alike seem to always come back to a few core complaints. Eseries devices have always had roadblocks like poor cameras and lack of attention with regards to multimedia. Conversely, the biggest hurdle facing the Nseries according to critics has been lack of a full keyboard. What if Nokia combined the best features of each series and created one device; their own "Jesus phone"? Would it silence the critics or do little more than cannibalize potential business? It looks like we’ll all be able to answer those questions and more in the second half of 2008. According to two of our reliable sources, Nokia is brewing a dynamo slated for a late-2008 release with some of the most impressive specs we’ve seen to date. Here’s what we can tell you: the device is not yet named but it will be an Nseries and will sport the S60 3rd Edition FP2 OS. The body is described as being similar to that of the E61i with a slender candy bar form factor and a full keyboard. That’s not a typo, guys! An Nseries with a full QWERTY keyboard! Details are limited with regards to the guts, but we do know that it will pack either a 5 or 6-megapixel camera with autofocus and 30fps DVD-quality video recording capabilities. We’ve also been told it will have integrated GPS and a few new goodies that will take the Nseries to the next level. With the impending release of the first S60 Touch device and now this beast, 2008 is shaping up to be quite a year for Nokia.

Look at 3 symbols label just above the top right corner of the screen. The first letter is ‘E’, isn’t it? And design – it looks just like widened and “qwerty’ed” Nokia E51. Sure, it’s E71 mentioned above.

why did you change your picture without saying you did so in your post? it obviously says EXX on top, not an Nseries.

what you had before was a limited edition E61i.

Wow! Since you changed the picture, it is so much better looking. I would definitley trade my iPhone for one of these babies! (Of course I know this will cost a whole lot more, though.) I want a phone with a great camera and video features, a qwerty keyboard, wifi, gps, full web broswer. This looks like the best phone ever!

@Commenters – Sloooooow down guys. We just published a clarification post. Read it. It also includes some additional [exciting] details that were brought to our attention. We included a pic that should spell it out better for you guys as well.

The pic in this post is simply intended to show form factor. At no point did anyone claim that it was an image of the upcoming Nseries device. The old pic was changed because the form factor, as described by our sources, is closer to that of the E71 as opposed to the E61i which was the first pic we posted. Black, slim, QWERTY; that’s what we know.

There are no available live pics or mock ups of this device – yet. When there are, you know where you can come to see them…

Boy Genius, do you happen to know if the new N-series Nokia with the qwerty keyboard will have a Xenon flash like the N82 or an LED flash. Hopefully the former. Thanks.

It better have the 352 x 416 res as my N80. 240 x 320 just does not cut it

The problem with the above phone is that its looks too big – wide & long.
The trend now is short and sweet.
Shiny black is also in, dudes.

Dang Nokia… is it so impossible to put a somewhat recessed track ball in there that you can also press down to click- and surrounding it with the existing dpad?
Web browsing with a d pad sucks. Also with salling clicker… (got it for my N95-3) using yor phone as a wireless mouse for presentations is lame with the d-pad- you look like a novice manipulating a cursor with a d pad on a presentation screen.

Here’s your keyboard answer- a fold down keyboard flap (one that then after unfolding slides into a slot and locks for texting) combo lens protector for the N95 that has a qwerty keyboard on it. keys can also be camera shortcuts.

Or a touch pad on the lens side of the n95 so you can manipulate the cursor from the back side might be nice there is all this unused realestate there anyhow. Double press a key to activate the touch pad.
