Jay-Z launching record label with Apple

This one’s been floating around like a hot air balloon, but we’ve just about confirmed it. For those that don’t know, Jay-Z left Def Jam as President last month, and everyone’s been talking about where he’s heading. While this might be one of his many other venutures, we just heard that Jay-Z is launching a record label with Apple. No, Beyonce will not be formally attached. This is from a high-up person attached to Jay (no, not who you’re thinking), and it’s said to be a go! Jay is supposedly totally into the business model, and really wants this to happen. Hey, Apple! Send us some MacWorld passes, and we’ll cut down on the leaks, ‘kay?

I think I will take my label digital, would not need permission from anybody to move anything, it cuts down on the whole distibute and shit thing and I would not have to pay for content that was not purchased and everything else is digital so why not, the distibutors now are itunes, rhapsody, yahoo, msn, napster and the like, so not having music for sale traditionally is not a problem and when people want to listen in their car, they just burn a cd anyway, but some people will always buy cd’s just like some always buy vinyl and others rock out to tapes and than there is the 8 track player, there is a market for everything, the question, if Jay do? If he does, everyone else will, he will take Rocafella with him, he needs to hire Dame to run that ship, and everyone else will go along wit him, Diddy, he sees the dollars he sees the money saved in not pressing up a million units only to sell only 500k like wit Press Play, everybody loved the singles he could of saved alot of time and money if it was just digital, imagine PRESS PLAY (Start of Digita Revolution) but Hov will do something he is not hinting for nothing, look at all his moves they always play out in front of your face and he tells you ahead of time (All I need is …Like Meth and Mary, Marvin and Tammy) Got B, took over the TV and than the world SMART DUDE

This story sounds like bollocks. Chuck D and a mess o’ peeps say Jigga is headed to Sony with Rick Rubin, which makes a whole lot more sense for Carter than starting a label with Apple. Carter didn’t do all that well at IDJ despite having Reid right there to give advice, and he left behind a lot of unhappy label mates. Reid understands R&B, perhaps not rap so well. Rubin has had success over multiple genres and has ties to people Carter has ties with and would be a good match for him.
This would basically be leaving a guy out there without all that much experience running a label to take all the flack if the label doesn’t produce any hits. If it is a success, it’s just “another stupendous incredibly genius decsion from Jobs!!!!!111 pwnd!!11″ If it fails, the problems at IDJ look bigger in hindsight and Jigga gets a question mark in his business accumen.

Apple Inc. (Steve Jobs and Co) is in an agreement with Apple Corp. (The Beatles) that keeps Apple Inc. from becoming a record label. Maybe Jay-Z is doing something with them, music related, but not running or starting a record label “directly” or in “partnership” with Apple. Inc. This would be a direct violation of their settlement.

Good move Jay!
This is a model of what a man can do with street ed. If some of these “so called” executive corporate innovators would seek out that type of talent of the “street element” ( through maybe a court probated system)
it could potentially change the face of corporate recruitment.

peace, i think MR,CARTER has every right to explore new fresh ground and put himself in other mediums. the move he made wasn’t suprising 2 me, he’s a very well educated man that has the best of both worlds, he understands the hood as well as the corporate world. he’s a shinning example of what an artist can ascend 2. i myself have been invole with many excutives that just drains you of your talent, but MR.CARTER HAS been a real rocafella about his business. i would love to sign 2 his new label, all my best MR.CARTER. sincerly yours, LORDLIFE A.K.A MRPRESSUREPOINT.

I have a song called: The Coffee Shop Cop…that JZ would really like. It’s a Rap song that different then many others. Is there a way I can get the song him. I saw a interview of JZ a couple of night ago, and he said he always keep him eyes open for new songs.
