BlackBerry 9000 surfaces?

Who knows at this point, honestly. From our own mock-up, to many other ones online, it’s going to take a lot to convince us. That said friends, this does look pretty legit if it turns out to be true. We’ll let you all debate whether you like or not. Is that a touch screen on there? Nope, don’t think so!

P.S. See that silver / chrome bezel around the device? We’ve heard it is actually aluminium! Aluminium is a go for the BlackBerry 9000! Also note the external microSD slot on the left side

Thanks, MiBlackBerry!

Auction states “phone as is, does not power up and doesn’t come with battery”. Strange. Might be a dummy unit LOL

I think it’s fake. Good photoshop. I mean the side looks like the cropped it from an iphone then the keyboard is from a Q. Even if it was a test device it would still show Blackberry at the top.

Looks like the new palm. I love BB but hope they really invest in to the form factor for the 9xxx devices.

Very interesting ebay post. Does anyone (BG??) have concrete evidence that this isn’t a hoax? I would buy the phone just to see what it is? If it is a new phone or if its something else.

I hope this isn’t the 9000. Design is a step back. And does that back key look weird to anyone? My pearl and curve (and buddies 8800) look different.

someone saying it is truely the 9000 and that RIM and Ebay have been notified about the device. Interesting.

That is the 8800 keyboard, look at the curves on the keys. It’s not from the moto or a Palm Centro, it’s absolutely an 88xx keyboard, slightly taller keys (for easier typing). I’m buying this is the new business device. Thanks RIM.

Why doesnt RIM put the damn headphone jack on top of the device? It would make fitting in your pocket or holster much better!!

RIM needs to start thinking a lot more about design! Hopefully the actually do put the SD slot on the outside of the device. Maybe move that stupid voice recording button also.

Do they even have a design team?

This device looks like the real thing. It is likely a replacement for the 8800 series. The Curve was released in March ‘07 and was updated with GPS and WIFI (8310, 8320) in September. The Pearl, originally released in September ‘06, was also updated (8120, 8130) in October/November ‘07. The 8800 was released back in February ‘07 and was last updated with WIFI (8820) in July. (The 8830 ‘World Edition’ update took place in May.) It is therefore the only device in RIM’s current device line-up that requires an update. It will likely be released very soon, not 6-8 months from now. Indeed, it is highly unlikely that RIM will not release a major update of its key corporate device by February ‘08. I would assume this device will not have a camera, but have WIFI, GPS, 3G (supported by comments made by Jim Balsilie during the Q1 conference call back in June ‘07), as well as a fully updated OS. A new consumer-oriented BlackBerry, however, is probably still a few months away. I’d bet the possibilty of a touchscreen in such a device is not yet dead.

This looks like a “retro” berry to me for some reason. Something that preceeded the curve in design. Looks less polished, like an engineering sample for the curve.

Also if I hear one more person refer to the 8800 as a “business” device, I’m going to puke. If anything is a “business” device its the older cheaper 8700 series that the working masses get handed out to them and the new shiny curve that the VPs get.

I have to agree w/ others in that the Curve is much more appealing than this newer model. I guess my question is if BG thinks this is legit or not??? BG??? Any comment???

If this is a fake, someone went through a hell of a lot of trouble to do so. I looked at the keypad and an it looks like an updated version of the 8800 series keypad (note the slightly raised ridges that curve across the keys a la the 8800)

Not really seeing the Motorola Q9h comparison several people have offered up. I am far from being an expert, but it looks like the real thing to me. Sign me up for one if this thing rolls with 3G.

FAKE!!! look at the logo at the top, the B in Berry is backwards and the logo does not line up with the earpiece. Also, the faded lines almost looks like this was printed on an inkjet printer then scanned. anyone agree?

I’m going to call real. I think the B is not backwards. Also it could be printed from an inkjet printer but what does that prove. But no one really knows. I think the thinness of it is the best advance.
