Clarification on Yesterday’s BlackBerry 9000 Post

Last night, while browsing Google News and a few BlackBerry-related forums, we realized that our post published yesterday on the BlackBerry 9000 device caused a bit more confusion than we had originally expected, despite our best efforts to reduce any negative reaction to the new device.

  • The new BlackBerry 9000 is an actual device not a reference to the entire post-8000 series successor;
  • The new BlackBerry 9000 device is not one of the previously mentioned 9100, 9300 or 9900 device families, all of which are expected to feature a 3G radio in the form of UMTS and HSDPA (GSM evolution);
  • The release of the BlackBerry 9000 should not be expected to delay any release dates for the BlackBerry 9×00, which we anticipate to first be the BlackBerry 9900 corporate device with an early to mid-May 2008 pre-availability announcement.

We hope that clarifies some of the information given yesterday that was apparently misinterpreted by many sources and persons. I’m personally not the least bit upset with RIM for releasing yet another EDGE-limited device, as the physical changes to the device more than establish a future of extremely hopeful possibilities for all of us BlackBerry users and fanatics.

    Why do you feel it is your place to “…reduce any negative reaction to the new device.”?

    The device stands or fails to stand on it own merits, an frankly, I tire of you trying to make everything sound so cheery and wonderful. Some products just stink… even from RIM.

    You see, this is what happens when you start going on about stuff you don’t know to be true. It just causes confusion and you’d have been best place to keep your mouth shut about something you don’t actually know the specs or details of.

    Stop your crying. Everyone that is a RIM fan has been waiting a long time for some sort of details.
    Can’t wait to see the actual product, but I want the 3G (9100) version. Any word on that?

    You kill the news about the BB 9000 people will be mad cause they don’t know info but people get mad cause they hear info about it and get confused and don’t want it mentioned man you can’t satisfy anybody these days. I guess these people have better info of the 9000 than BGR or Jibi. They should write for BGR if they have better info.

    Now that I think about it, it the use of the 9xxx number series that is so distrubing. This appears to be an “evalutionary” device that belongs in the 8xxx series. I think we were hoping that the 9xxx would be a “revolutionary” device.

    the only way its really an in between device is if its not the same form factor / case as the next 93xx series. If it is then its just another case of RIM milking its product lines. Release a base model (this instance less than base without 3G) then add one thing then add another to get people to buy multiples. Good Business but tough on your true core customers.

    You would think on a tech forum you wouldn’t have to write things for a 5th grade reading level… unfortunately that’s proving not to be true.

    There is no need to clear anything up. Ignorant people will always be ignorant and shouldn’t own a BlackBerry anyways. I am and always will be a diehard RIM fan and any news from RIM and/or any new devices is awesome news to me.

    Let the retard monkeys cry over this so-called “confusion”.

    im sensing a product overflow in the bb market for 08′ i dont know about anyone else. but i would be more then happy with this “god like” device to my standards that was our early christmas gift from the bgr. i dont see any confusion. in any of this. all i know is ive been an investor and have had used or owned every rim product since 2003. they have come a looooong way. im excited to see and the anticipation is killen me. and bgr track record has been on Q or 99% on Q WITH EVERY AND EVERY RIM PRODUCT THAT HAS DROPPED SINCE DAY 1. ALL I TRULY WANT, THAT IS WHAT I CALL “REVOLUTIONARY” IN MY EYES. A CURVE DESIGN. 624MHZ PROCESSOR. 3.2 MP CAM. HSPDA 3.5G. with wi-fi, and some gps. thats it and that what im hoping for. be safe.
