Verizon’s LG Voyager gets a massive firmware update
Are you one of the many Verizon customers who ran out to grab a new Voyager on launch day, only to discover that the handset had more glitches and issues than you could deal with? Relief may be in sight. Verizon and LG have just came out with a massive firmware update that appears to address a number of significant issues. Among the most significant fixes include an updated and improved battery life, better Bluetooth support, mobile web and HTML browser enhancements, and more. The update is available immediately, but you’ll have to head down to your local Verizon store to get the goods. Check out the full rundown below.
- Fixed issue with V CAST Music and 4GB+ removable memory read error
- Adds ability to reset V CAST Mobile TV client
- Update power settings to improve battery life performance
- Bluetooth enhancements to audio, pairing, and key tone
- Mobile Web – HTML browser enhancements
- Fixed to display = symbol on the bottom in the calculator for LG Joy font
- Fixed to access to keypad through only one step while in a call
- Fixed the auto lock setting so that the touch screen will not lock on its own when auto lock is set to off
- Fixed to allow ESPN application on external touch screen
- Fixed to allow Mobile IM on external touch screen
- Fixed to have no difference between the displayed image (to let you know which scene was taken) and the actual saved image, when you take a picture aiming at any moving objects
- Fixed when device goes to maps.google.com, the device resets

two questions:
1) if i get the firmware update will it delete all my phone’s saved things such as pics, contacts, music, etc?
2) don’t they now have it where you dont need to go to the store to get a frimware update. i thought i had read that somepleace.
You’d think with all the testing Verizon does, they’d have discovered some of these issues before release? Seems like plenty to update in a product that’s been out for approximately a month.
Seems like most of this was just passed up during the test phase, but the maps.google.com thing is pretty funny.
Too bad, but I guess it’s in good enough shape now to add to my arsenal???
frimware or firmware?
just kiddin.
nice phone.
still, for some reason I love HTC products.
You STILL have to go to the store to get firmware updates? Give me a break, Verizon…
So can you update ugly or low res display over the air as well? And what about being able to install Mac OS X on here? Can you update with that too?
if it were firmware you could update over the air but verizon branded “FRIMWARE” needs to be done in store
O great vzw was stupid yet again
but the key question is…will it blend?
That’s a lot of issues that needed to be fixed. Who was doing the testing?
this phone just came out very recently and there are problems already??? so much for the so called iphone killer! verizon better get their act together or they’ll lose even more customers to other carriers.
how often do you see a software update to improve battery life? awesome
Pretty frequently these days, especially with Verizon’s CDMA devices. The Moto Q had some updates that were supposed to help with battery life, as have other smartphones.
doesn’t improve battery life exactly, but reduces drain from apps. the battery is what it is.
ackack, how about it improves battery performance then huh? everyone knows what it did, no need to be so picky.
Dtest54, I think “improves stuff” sounds better, huh? lol
WOW… I am not even a Verizon customer so not biased. But when you post comments like “lose even more customers” just shows your post are not valid due to hate rather than fact. Verizon has by far the lowest “CHURN” rate than any cellular company. This site is full of this type of crap! Where did the insightful peeps go!!!!
There were insightful people here?
Seriously though, everybody who has the iPhone, or lusts after the iPhone, or thinks they should be lusting after the iPhone, takes every opportunity to harsh on every other phone. I mean, as we all know, Apple has never had to update the iPhone. Everything they did was perfect from the very beginning.

Sqube, as an iphone lover & owner, I dont hate on any particular phone.
I also have an active BB that I love. The ones that i do hate are the ones that claim that their phone is perfect, because their is no perfect phone.
Some just troll around an insult other phones so they don’t feel that they made a bad purchase themselves.
iPhone people generally cling to the “that can be added in updates” and that is a good way to look at things. Nothing is perfect so the better companies are the ones that do push updates and bug fixes. Recently you see WM push out a very good looking update and now this for the voyager, more companies need to do this rather then just move on to another model.
So now you’re an iPhone troll?
Hating on WinMo like that, shame on you Dtest. You’re supposed to be the neutral party that calls all of us trolls.
Dial *22899 to reprogram your phone with the firmware update.
I called 3 stores asking if they had it before I finally got this as the answer.
Hope this helps people!
does this actually work
I am not sure of the results yet but it does update the phone
You know how they came out with the EnV a few months after the original V? Are they going to create a whole updated version phone like they did for the V ? and i dont mean just updating the “firmware” .
even after i got my update my espn MVP program still tells me to open up the phone to use it…..wtf? but the mobile AIM program does work on the touch screen….whats goin on here? but either way it is worth it to get this update
