Sidekick AIM issues

Are you a Sidekick user that’s been having significant issues with AOL Instant Messenger on your device? You’re not alone. Instant messages are being delayed, sent out of sequence, and in many cases not going through at all. T-Mobile, Danger, and AOL have all acknowledged that the issue exists, but have no projected date of resolution. T-Mobile claims that it’s an AOL issue and, as such, won’t provide anything in the way of support, answers, or account credits. AOL, in typical fashion, acknowledges the problem but refuses to provide any details about its specifics. The problem has, by many accounts, been going on since late November. The issue appears to be present on all current Sidekick devices, including the new LX and Slide. This sort of issue is nothing new for the Sidekick faithful, but the fact that its been going on for so long without resolution doesn’t seem to bode well. T-Mobile, usually known for their pro-active approach to customer relations, seems to be denying any culpability, despite the fact that they specifically advertise the Sidekick’s AIM service as a selling point of the device. First the Slide fiasco, and now this…it’s been a bad fall for the Sidekick.

    I have 3 sidekicks in my family and we haven’t noticed any issues at all. Is this country wide or in particular markets? Don’t be hatin’ (Fiasco? they were pretty proactive and generous with the slide deal, a lot of ppl walked away with LX’s at slide prices)

    I have 3 sidekick buddies including me and we’re all over the u.s. We’re having tons of aim problems. Bit recently mine have lessend. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

    If it has nothing to do with T-Mobile’s service, why would they offer compensation? If it were an issue making calls or sending SMS or MMS messages, over their lines, it would be appropriate for them to step-up. Since it is a bug with AOL, and is the use of their software, AOL should be doing something. But as users do not pay for the use of AOL’s software, what more are they expecting?

    T-Mobile is one of the most generous providers for customer service. Unlike other carriers, they aim to please their customers in any way possible. I’m sure if you gave them a call, they would gladly work with you on some sort of alternative.

    Shouldn’t t-mobile be a little more proactive with finding a solution seeing as it IS on their hardware?

    i don’t know why BGR always tells good news and “great”services about ATT but just crap about t-mo.. and they called fiasco.. what?? talk about the 3G services that att provides.. only in few cities and all the time crashes and dropped calls.. that is fiasco.. ATT promoting they have the fewest drop calls? .. that is fiasco.. so, BGR why you don’t make an article about that.. that is a real fiasco after the government asked att to cut off all those commercials.because they are not the fewest drop calls network… Fiasco.

    Yeah, AT&T really has the most drop calls out of all the carriers. So many people I know have switched from AT&T to Verizon or T-Mobile because of AT&T’s drop call fiasco.

    Yeah this lag with AIM sucks, its getting a bit better day by day but I find myself at times signing on the comp to compensate for the lag.

    Oh god, a carrier war discussion, when will you all realize what you say about one carrier…someone else can say about the carrier your defending, they are all bad..just depends on who you ask.

    uggh. this is getting so bad. haha. I can’t talk to my boyfriend very often, as he doesn’t have a phone anymore. not even a landline. annnd the lag gets too bad to even hold a conversation. blergh.

    yupp well i hate sidekick but got a deal on an lx for 100 bucks 1 year deal and could not refuse.. but its an ok phone althouh its just a toy and not a device.. i hate that my aol laggs uncontrolably.. and my friends are now having problem since i told them about mine… in the end.. they really need to fix that.. hopefully with the nect update.. aol might include someting

    … about aol and the lagg.. the more repost they get the more attentionm they will pay seeeing how t mo .. try damm good to please there customers.. specially when your conrtract is coming to an end

    I have had 4 sidekicks. Sk1 sk2 skID and sk3 and the last 2 have been having lag issues for a while. Most frustrating thing ever. Have ur friend I’M ur phone versus ur s/n. If u don’t know how to do it its +1(area code)(phone number) minus the parenthesis.

    I’ve been using the AIM app on my Sidekick ID for two months and haven’t seen any problems besides being disconnected a couple times per month. Guess I’m one of the lucky ones.

    tim did you call aim? It is a problem with aol log in systems… There is suppose to be an aol work around. The reason tmo can’t do anything is because its not on the handset or in the tmo network that is causing the issue. its the systems that aol controls, which tmobile cannot fix, change, or operate…

    i have the sidekick lx and aim pretty much sucks right now. no icons or away messages show up. and thats kinda the most important part (which is kind of sad lol) but i will say sending and receiving messages have improved (finally) but i kinda need the icons and aways back!! AOL, GET IT TOGETHER!!!

    Yeaaa aim away msgs and icons are no longer showing like before also im having a problem right now like it sayz I been signing in 2 many times and that aol has a limit for signing in too much however I haven’t been signing in 2 much so I don’t uderstand why aim tell me that msg unless my bf was trying to get in my aim but couldn’t get the password I need help plz cuz I restarted my sidekicklx than soft restart it also than did the airplane mode thing but nothing works helP

    if ur havin problems wit ur sidekick all u have to do is go to ur local tmaobile store and tell them 2 help u..tats wat i did so u should do the same becuz my im.s were sending late to pple and it was pissin me off
