Get your Google Calendar / BlackBerry sync on

Google and RIM have been working together rather well as of late. A recent update to the integrated BlackBerry Google Chat client in October brought a host of nice features with a great UI, and the Gmail / BIS integration just keeps getting better with BES-like syncing features that make using Gmail with your Berry an incredibly pleasant experience. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, Google dropped the latest bomb. Google Calender is now fully syncable with your on-board BlackBerry datebook. Simply download a small program from Google, enter all of the relevant details, and you’re as good as synced. Best of all, as with most Google services, this won’t cost you a penny. Hit the link and enjoy!

Where can you get this? The blackberry google updater shows no new updates and the link takes you to a generic page…

    @ Tyler Brock

You have to click the “All Products” link on the left to get the “Sync” option.

This only for Calendar. AFAIK, there isn’t anything that will let you sync contacts w/ Google contacts. There are number of solutions for syncing Google calendar with your phone.

    - GCalsync (WM5/WM6) (My favorite. free version lets you sync 1 calendar directly to your phone OTA, no Outlook/Activesync needed. The Non-free lets you sync all Calendars.)

Goosync (works w/ any java enabled phone) havent tried this as it doesn’t work w/ my Blackjack

RemoteCalendars - works but it’s intended for MS Outlook Google Calendar sync. You have to Activesync in order for it to update the Calendar on your phone.

Go to Rimarkable.com. They have the OTA link in their posting. I just downloaded it and it works quite well.

I saw this on a friend’s Blackberry about 6 months ago. He works for Google in an unrelated project. He swore me to secrecy after I told him I had been looking for such a solution. He thought it had already been released. Glad to know it’s out there finally.

I wondered. My BlackBerry calendar is full of appointments. GCalendar has none after a ’successful’ sync.

Now all we need is the contacts to sync and then I can cancel my BES plan.

I bought syncmycal to sync outlook 2007 to Google calendar and downloaded the Google sync app for blackberry as a workaround to get my outlook to sync to the blackberry. Google does not sync all the appointments. I’ve tried everything and cannot get it to work right even if I delete and add appts. I’ve messed with Service books, etc and nothing gets the Google sync to capture all appointments. The sync software to sync outlook to google works fine and it’s $25.

    Any ideas??

You might (like me) have your google calendar embedded in a website that need to syn with bb data

solution to that is: sync your blackberry with outlook (or whatever you use), export from outlook and import to google calander, clear your blackberry calander and sync… all the appointments will download to blackberry and future sync’s will work. It worked for me, though I did have problems with reoccuring appointments that had changes on some off the occurences, my tip is just to check anything important on google.

The Google program will only sync calendar events going forward. Pre-existing events are not included (and I have absolutely no idea why).
