It's a bluetooth unit that you can wear around your neck or clip to your shirt and has some controls on it. You either use the headphones they give you or your own and you can use it as a bluetooth headset or for stereo bluetooth headphones. Also, even though it comes with the bead chain, you can just stick it in a shirt pocket or clip it to your belt or whatever. That makes it look less dog-taggy.
