Palm devices could gain Google “My Location” support in future revisions
Google’s recent introduction of its "My Location" non-GPS geo-locater system was a fantastic development for anyone sporting a handset not equipped with a GPS chip. One glaring omission from the announcement, however, was the lack of support for Palm OS-based devices. While this could have stood a yet another reason not to purchase a Garnet-based device, it seems that there may be some relief in sight for the Palm faithful. Apparently, the API needed to identify cell towers (a necessary component of the My Location service) does exist, it just simply hasn’t been made public. Realizing the error of their ways, Palm is planning on releasing that API to developers sometime next month, which should clear the way for My Location support in future revisions of Google Maps for Palm. Phew.

Yeah but here’s the rub as it stands right now guys. Those $500 Treo’s some of us own already, won’t be able to use it. The update is for the $99 Centro and future Palm devices.

I’m glad this kind of stuff is going out and being made public. People need to know why their favorite software is not being developed for XYZ platform so they can put pressure on the malefactors.

Yeah. And if you still use a palm device I’m assuming your also a fan of Apple and also love the cock. Great job palm. Now go ahead and get better marketing, better concepts, and just give it up. Thanks in advance.

Shameful… but HILARIOUS!!!

I still use a Palm device because my contract is up in February and don’t feel like paying full price for my next phone. I am not a fan of Apple and roosters aren’t as good as chicken.
That said, this is bad timing because by the time I can use it on my Palm, I will already have a PocketPC. A few years ago the Treo was the best smartphone for me with its library of software, nice screen, full keyboard, and internet radio streaming. It’s unfortunate that they haven’t innovated in the way of software since I bought that 650 so it’s time to move on.
