Motorola Q9 with Wi-Fi? Psh, yeah!

Shout out to the neighborhood FedEx driver! We were just delivered a brand new Motorola Q9 with Wi-Fi. This particular version is AT&T branded, and the 3G bands on here are 850/1900 MHz. This sure as heck looks like it’s headed to AT&T, right? The physical device is exactly the same, except the bezel around the phone is now completely chrome instead of a darker, unpolished silver. Obviously, the main difference is the inclusion of Wi-Fi, something it appears AT&T is fully committed to adding to most of their high-end smartphone handsets. We’re currently blazing at HSDPA speeds (yes, the H indicator shows up now instead of just 3G), and when on Wi-Fi, we’re gone in 60 seconds like Nick Cage! Want to check it out? You know you do!

can you say “photoshop” ? i knew you could

    reasons
    1. cigular
    2. wifi: available (never in my years of mobile development have i seen that alert)
    3. screen graphic is not aligned with phone screen, look at upper right black space compare to upper left black space.

Man if this thing has HSDPA, WiFi, and GPS that’d be friggin sweet! I’ve got an unlocked S620 which I was tempted to upgrade to some variant of the Kaiser for the extra features but was less than thrilled with the bigger size and two-handed operation. With those three features in a slim qwerty slab form factor I’d buy one in a second.

I’m also interested in a street date. I just got a Q9h on Friday, and would love to get my hands on 6.1.

    @Sam
Pretty astute observation. Doesn’t make sense for it to be spelled wrong.

However, if all else holds true, I’ve seen this version at my local BestBuy and that chrome is very “sparkly” Like, “bling-bling, look at me!” sparkly.

The Q9h I purchased at my local AT&T does have the more “muted” accents which fits my taste a whole lot better.

If BGR updates this post anytime soon will determine if I’ll be returning mine and get a cover for this new one since the polished chrome is way too garish for my taste.

Wow. Seems to me to be the same as Verizons Q9m. Other than the Windows 6.1 Verizons had the wi-fi from the start

    @Jason;

Prior to my purchase which I chronicled here

    http://morningpaper.typepad.com/morning_paper/2007/11/made-my-new-pho.html

I had seen a very, VERY bright chrome version at my local BestBuy. I thought it was VERY loud for a supposedly business class phone.

The version I saw and purchased from my local AT&T has the more muted silver (like brushed metal more than shiny chrome).

Maybe it was the lighting but I don’t think so. The display model was definately more “chrome” than brushed metal that I saw.

The one I saw at BestBuy wasn’t turned on so I don’t know if it had WiFi or not.

If you guys look at the gallery of this post the screen shots prove to me that this is not photoshopped. You can see the pixels of the word Cigular very clearly and accurately.

And seriously, WHY would BGR photoshop such a thing and lie, and even more importantly make it SO OBVIOUS?

Don’t come here with your boredom and start conspiracy theories. Very annoying.

How dare people say this is a photochop conspiracy! BGR has broke news on several phones, mostly moto’s WAY before Motorola even made a press release about them!

100% has to be real. The question remains,

When is it going to Premier, BGR? ^_^

I don’t think anybody is saying BGR is at fault.

It’s just something is really strange about AT&T misspelling Cingular. Why would they?

And why, with the transition complete, would they still be using Cingular anyway?

Because att and Moto are incredibly stupid companies and they pass by little things like this.

This could be a prototype phone that was supposed to hit up some att store and have a manager test it or something.

Or it could be going to the att CEO to let him check it out with its many bugs before he orders 50 million and sends them “round the world in 80 days.

Or some other incredibly impossible condition that has to have almost impossible circumstances to work.

So can we get a ruling on this?

how did BGR get this phone? Was it some special shipment from ATT, or just a regular purchase like anyone else would do?

Is this the real deal, or some sort of hoax?

I have not seen anyone from BGR refute the questions about the authenticity of this story or the device in question.

I too am looking for a new phone and am ready to get the Q9h, but if ATT is going to provide an update like this in the next couple of months then I will wait…..

I purchased a Q 9h the day before BGR posted this. One thing that I really would want is a Q with Wi-Fi.

I’m starting to believe this is a hoax, but i hope it is not. I’ll sell this one and buy one with wi-fi on it when it comes out.

    Update Us Please BGR!!!
