Gritty patent drawings of a new Nokia camera device have shown up. From the looks of them, it’s either going to be a 6 megapixel or 8 megapixel shooter.
Take a look at the the actual patent claim below. It doesn’t state whether this is either a 6 or 8 megapixel handset, but a keen eye can make out in the squirrelly dots that it’s one of the two. The phone resembles a sliding-successor to the N93, with its camera on top. If this turns out to be the direction Nokia is going, it would be slightly surprising that when this comes out next year, which it’s rumored to do, Nokia releases a 6 megapixel phone, and not the new benchmark of 8 megapixels. Samsung has already released news of an 8 megapixel CMOS camera-phone, and in the strange bottomless pit of peculiar Chinese phones, Lensas already has one out with a CDD device in the F2218 Mito. Come on, Nokia! We’re waiting.
