Google announces plans for 2008 Apps upgrades
Google’s suite of online applications is Microsoft’s worst nightmare. A collection of productivity apps that allow anyone with a Google account to edit and create documents and spreadsheets, keep track of their schedule, store their photos, and much more, is made all the more deadly due to the fact that it’s completely free. Yeah, we know. We’re fans. The company has just revealed some plans for upcoming revisions to several of their services, and things are looking good for 2008. An upcoming revision to Google Gears should allow for offline use of Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Calendar. We’ll also be treated to the launch of Google sites, which will be a tool allowing companies to create intranets, project management tracking tools, and even external customer facing web sites. No word on the precise timetable.
