Hello,
I’m a 64 year old new gamer in Galesburg, IL.
I emailed Sony corporate yesterday about how very happy I am with my new PS 3, and “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune”. I love the detail and color of this game on my HDTV. I may be new at this, but the game is fantastic. My nephew has an Xbox 360,
and he says he hasn’t seen anything like “Drake’s Fortune”. The guys running the new local Gamestop
here badmouthed the PS 3 to me, but I bought the 80GB anyway, and I’m glad I did.

The Wii is actually the only console of the three that doesn’t lose money on each sale. Sony looses a boat load on each console sale. MS looses a little, and may even be at break-even point now. Wii actually sells for more than it costs Nintendo to build and has done so since launch.

having real friends has nothing to do with the difference between the consoles. Also, the PS3 is now leaps and bouds above the 360 tech wise, and it still depends on the game. Some games actually look better on the 360 than PS3 even with the added horsepower (and cost) that the PS3 has.
As for a multimedia machine, its nothing different than the 360. Actually i personally would put the 360 ahead because of the live marketplace.
Dont care about the Blue-ray as i dont buy movies, no need.

Other OS’s, other than serious geeks, has no appeal.

Aahhh, hopefully I get my hands on the 360 Elite from the amex wishlist, wiiiith RockBand…aand then I’ll trick my dad into buying the Wii for my lil’ sister..hahahahaa no PS3 on my master plan..lol

360 has more games and is better if you like playing online without having real friend.

PS3 is a multimedia system, more powerful, and is more technologically advanced than the 360. Also I love the ability to put on another OS so it’s a PC or MAC or Linux or all three machine too.

I heard that nintendo was losing money because it cost more to make it then there selling it for, is this true?

Also like dtest said, the wii is marketed towards little kids and everyone. People need to realize that’s this is not for serious gamers, and that’s one of the selling points.

I have a ps2 (which I didn’t get too the slim version came out) and im happy with that. Hopefully this christmas I can get wii and then I will have the best of both worlds.

Wii will outlast the others because it has a very broad customer base. The PS3 and 360 are for gamers, Wii is for everyone and is marketed that way.

Availability means nothing as supply is a sales strategy that can be adjusted to get a certain reaction.
Sales numbers a re the big one and Wii is #1 for the above reasons.
360 to me is still the best because it has the best online community, but its all 1a, 1b and 1c at this point.

The Wii is nothing like the GameCube, and for that, Nintendo should be thankful.

I’m quite happy to see Nintendo back on top of the console world, and I’ll venture a guess and say that the next-gen consoles coming out in 2012 +/- will all mimic the Wii in a variety of ways…

Oh, and Nintendo selling old SNES and NES games online for just 5 bucks a pop, that’s brilliant.

The “it isn’t selling in my neighborhood” argument is always a funny one.. My local EB had a huge line to open at 7am, and the first 3 customers bought PS3’s..

I tried the Wii, and didn’t like it. I know plenty of people who bought them and have traded them in already, it just doesn’t have enough third party support with good single player games, they all do party games.. I think it is the best choice for children, and often steer people towards it rather than 360, but the Wii seems to be heading down the same path as the Gamecube.

I was at a locat FYE store and they said shipment of the Wii was coming in today…just 2 units though. No wonder the thing sells out. Also, went to a Wal-Mart and asked the sales person there as to when they were getting a new shipment in. He wasn’t sure, but said we can go on eBay and bid on one of the three he has up for sale. It’s already $150 more than the price in the store. Was looking for my kid…guess he’s going to have to wait a bit on this one…

So wrong…but I can understand.

What victory? It’s great that Sony improved upon its abysmal 2006, but the fact is that Black Friday week was the biggest in Nintendo’s history. They moved 653,000 DS units and 350,000 Wiis. That’s more DSes than any other console in Nintendo history, and more Wiis than any week since it was released, save launch week. Sony, of course, won’t provide real numbers, but they sold 197,000 units in all of November 2006. Considering that most of those were sold immediately after the launch on the 17th, a 245% increase may not mean much.

I’m no fanboy of any system, but I’d say the Wii is still kicking the PS3’s butt in unit sales. And the PSP isn’t even in the same time zone as the DS, much less the ballpark. But Sony does look well-positioned against the XBox 360.

Snitch, lack of supply doesn’t mean greater sales. Just means they are not meeting their demand. PS3 is moving and supplying alot more units.
Wii will keep selling though, it might outlast both of these consoles.

LOL i love all the mathematical equations associated between the xbox and ps3…good humor. i’m stoaked to see the ps3 is FINALLY meeting expectations and making it’s way into more homes across the continents. congrats sony! it’s about damn time! slow and steady wins the race!!

ps3 sales on fire?? Are you kidding, my local best buy and toys R us stores have tons of them not moving at all. Now the freaking Wii thats on fire there
no where to be found, but the ps3 and the xbox are everywhere

they are doing a much better job of pricing and advertising so these numbers are no surprise to me. I wold consider getting one but my 360 is everything i want for now.
