DIY iPhone battery replacement

Are you getting a bit frustrated with your iPhone’s lack of battery life? Feel like it could use a boost from a new juice pack? Do you have nerves of steel? This new kit allows you to replace your iPhone battery without sending the unit in for replacement by Apple. The only catch? You’ll need to get comfortable with a soldering iron, a pair of scissors, and a pry-tool. This is not for the faint of heart. The process requires you to sever the OEM iPhone battery connection and solder the new one to the existing wires. It’s not easy, and the prospect for a completely powerless / bricked iPhone certainly exists, but if you’re successful you’ll find yourself with a fresh 1400 mAh battery. How much does it cost? $25. Any takers?

Lets see what apple has to say regarding the DIY and how it will void the warranty……

This should be somewhat entertaining for a while.

Michael, its obvious that this violates the warranty, Apple will not comment on this.

This could be fun for some gooks that are good with soldering. I think though that the hardcore people that would do this are also the same ones that will be getting the 3G version next year.

    interesting though.

Maybe Apple should add a ’soldering tutorial’ to their software!!

Maybe apple should equip their cell phone with a good battery. Then this wouldn’t be a problem.

Ouch, “gooks” that are good with a soldering iron sounds so non-pc. Geeks seems more gentle.

this would not happen if Apple design the device with a user replaceable battery like everyone else.
