SyncMate offers free Windows Mobile-Mac syncing
Up until now, Mac users looking for a way to sync their Windows Mobile devices to their OS X-based computers have pretty much had to rely on either Pocket Mac or The Missing Sync to get the job done. Both applications offer a wide array of syncing options, and do a pretty good job of bridging the gap between Redmond and Cupertino. The problem, of course, is that both of these bits of code cost precious $’s. Enter SyncMate. This fully-featured syncing program allows WinMo users to share PIM and address book information with their Macintosh computers. The best part is of course that this baby is free! It supports Windows Mobile 5 and 6, but seems to only run on Tiger-based systems, though we’d imagine that a Leopard upgrade is somewhere in the works.

I’ve tried using this with a MacBook running the newest Tiger version with an HTC Touch on Sprint and I get nothing. When you plug the phone in via USB, there’s supposed to be a popup where you tell your Mac to treat the phone over USB as an ethernet connection so SyncMate can sync with it. It doesn’t come up for me, so I uninstalled it.

Same here- I get nothing on a macbook running 10.4.11 and a Motorola Q 9m.
I emailed them and they thought I needed to get a (pc) program called SDA application unlock, but I haven’t been able to download it anywhere.

I was able to find SDA application unlock here: http://www.gpcarreon.com/?p=151
Haven’t tried it yet, though.

Got it. You’ll need a windows machine and ActiveSync to use this software. I ran it and got a message back that my Motorola Q is not unlockable. Then, another message said success, and asked me to reboot the phone. I did that, and nothing has changed. Still can’t connect.
Good luck

I was having the same problem with my mac and WM 6 phone. i found out that the Mac firewall was denying Syncmate access to my phone. I selected the Select access for specific services and applications..Then your pc will prompt you to allow access to your device. hope this helps.
