Windows Vista Sideshow coming to Windows Mobile?
Ah, the glory of the rumor mill, though as crazy as this one sounds we’ve got some hard evidence to back up the claims. It seems that some clever soul has uncovered a brand new Software Developers Kit on the Windows Sideshow Team blog. The new SDK adds support for the following new features:
- Portrait QVGA UI designed for remote controls
- New Universal driver for Windows SideShow that supports USB and Bluetooth communication
- New Bluetooth menu commands
Sounds like Microsoft has plans for mobile support to us! Sideshow, for those that don’t know, is a bit of software that allows for specific bits of information, such as new emails, media player status, and more, to be displayed on a given device’s secondary screen. This means, for example, that you can check your email without opening your laptop. SideShow, thus far, has been limited to full-size computers running Windows Vista. Just how the technology might be incorporated into a Windows Mobile environment is unclear, but we’re sure it won’t take long before someone answers that question for us

This would be great, not only would make any wimo device more useful it would make the business powers of vista more believeable. I would even assume that this would create a new set wimo fans.

Microsoft has already gone on-record saying that Windows Mobile will have SideShow support, and that it will be back-ported to versions 6.0 and 5.0.
