T-Mobile dropping over 600 customers because they roam too much

On November, 14th, T-Mobile sent out letters to over 600 customers that are no longer within a contract to tell them to get lost. Not quite the words, but more or less the same thing. The thing is, T-Mobile viewed these customers are roaming too much, and most likely thought it would be cheaper to disconnect these customers instead of letting them roam till the cows come home. They are totally out of the system, as they’ve been offered to switch to a T-Mobile To Go plan. If they don’t want that, they will then have no choice but to have their service terminated by a specific date. A little harsh? Maybe. But then again, if T-Mobile doesn’t cover where you go, you’re better off switching to another carrier. Just don’t switch to Sprint because you might end up getting canned there too, you know, for calling customer service too much…

    tmobile is the worst carrier of all i remember when i had them they had the nerve to tell me i couldnt use my phone in the house back then i thought what kind of bs is that then they came out with that tmobile at home feature and it made sense there service sucks and you have to be a idiot to pay extra for something unless you dont have a homephone

    actually i think they are an excellent carrier but this seems strange.
    They do not have a large coverage footprint in the US so I would think there is going to be a lot of roaming for alot of their customers.
    Well they know how much these people are costing them, oh well tough luck. Plenty of other options out there.

To each his own. It strikes me as funny when people attack carriers that are not there own. What’s the point? Are the other carriers paying you to react? What benefit are you getting?

    It does suck but 600 customers out of a 3 million? It could be wose, Didn’t Spint or ATT/Cingular do the same thing about a year back to a much greater number of customers? T-Mo does give you that 850 roaming possabiltiy outside of network, also the UMA/Wi-Fi calling is great. i was in china mking straight up calls over Wi-Fi and T-Mo didn’t care or even recognize I was outside the US. International calls at no extra cost!!

    Honestly, I would be happy if I got cut from T-mobile. I am stuck with the service for two years, and the service sucks. It really does depend on where you are, but I honestly would be happy if I could switch to Verizon/Cingular.
    T-mobile is the most reasonable carrier (price wise), but it has a crappy coverage.
    I might switch to a Curve, but honestly, I’m so over T-mobile.

The people that Sprint let go, obviously WANTED to get out of their contract otherwise they wouldn’t have called 20-30 times a day. Sprint even paid their last 2 months bills and ETF fees! Not only that but it probably helped tons of their customers by lowering the wait when you call their customer care line. Just because AT&T pays for your site doesn’t mean you have to constantly dog on them!

Though they may get great phones, often times they hardly ever have insurance available, and their rates are astronomical. Unless you live outside a metropolitan area, there is no need for comparing their service as every major carrier of the four is competitive in urban markets.

    UM, hello, t-mo (corporate stores) gives you a personal coverage check before signing up so you know what your coverage is any us location prior to signing up.. also their web site has a personal coverage check for an location at any time. Any smart shopper does their homework before shopping “buyer beware.”

    I’m heading out to Raleigh for Thanksgiving and it’s all roaming (except for Starbucks ;-) ). Hard to believe that they’re ceding that entire area to AT&T.
    State capital (politicians, Aides, Lobbyists!!!) NC State, Duke, Meridith, UNC (college students) Research Triangle (Yuppies).

    And they’re gonna say “Don’t show off our phones. Don’t show off our plans. We don’t want to be there.” ?

If you want un-interrupted coverage everywhere, move to Europe! Besides, using UMA with my new Curve has been awesome, no extra charges calling home from Argentina last week!

    Sad to see TMO had to let some of those customers go. They offer a decent selection of phones, great plans, and customer service that exceeds all the others. I just switched over to Verizon for the data after being with TMO for 5 years. TMO just can’t compete in that area.

    Ive been with Tmobile for 4 yrs and I dont plan on switching anytime soon (part of the reason is I just signed a 2 yr contract). I love Tmobile and havent had many problems. Signal sucks at times but its not as bad as people make it out to seem. I think M. Ronson summed it all up.

    Oh about the sprint comment, that was funny, there was no hating because pretty soon you will see a joke about Tmobile on another post.

    I’ve been with T-Mo since 1999 when they were known as Voicestream. I haven’t had any issues with them at all. They have had dead spots here and there, but they have been quickly resolving those issues. The introduction of UMA to their services also helps a great deal.
