HTC Touch gets the “String of Pearls” treatment, more memory

Why do companies think that releasing the same product in multiple hues will cause a stampede for the checkout line? HTC has just released some new editions to their shockingly impressive HTC Touch line. The new phones now come in white and burgundy, adding to the existing wasabi and black versions. They haven’t stopped there, however, deciding to upgrade the RAM to 128 MB, and pump the ROM up to 256 MB. Cosmetic and functional improvements? Damn, HTC. You’ve done it again.

Doesn’t Sprint Touch already come with these specs? (128 RAM/256 ROM, that is)??

more like they want to extend the lifespan of an already aging product.
see - RIM, HTC and Moto for examples.

I dunno, the memory boost was probably a good thing but I don’t think we need the colors…especially the vomit green.

Many sites are saying that, in spite of HTC’s publicly published specs, the Touch is in fact quadband. People using the phone on the AT&T network in places that only have the 850 band report that it works well. A few intrepid web stores were touting this fact on their sites, but now report that HTC has asked them to remove the quadband label. The white one has always been there, hasn’t it?

If you Google HTC Elf, it is a white Touch.

yeah, the white on, if nobody remembers, was the first thing that showed up on the news.

please, oh gods, let garnet and android run on the touch as I think that would kick ass.

basically, they believe this because it is a principle of basic economics. technically, they believe this because it expands the market for the phone…
