Downgrade your iPhone from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 with a little elbow grease
So you did what we stupidly did, and you upgraded to the new 1.1.2 software version even though it wasn’t even showing up in iTunes, Then, just as we suspected, jailbreaking the phone was broken, again. Now, a little more than a day later, The iPhone developer community has struck gold again, posting step-by-step instructions on how to downgrade your recently updated iPhone from firmware version 1.1.2 to 1.1.1. Why on earth would someone want to do that? The answer is pretty clear. There are existing jailbreak and unlock methods available for iPhone firmware 1.1.1. The problem with this method, however, is that iPhoneSimFree’s unlocking solution doesn’t appear to be functional on phones that have been downgraded. You’re still free to jailbreak top your heart’s content. If you haven’t yet upgraded to 1.1.2 and are in need of 3rd party apps and / or an unlocked iPhone, we suggest that you wait until further developments occur before upgrading. If you jumped the gun a bit too early, go ahead and try out this method. No guarantees of success, but it’ll be a story to tell your grand kids, right?
Please note: we’ve heard reports the 1.1.1 software version from Apple has the .tiff exploit fixed also. That means even if you downgrade, that one-click method won’t work anymore. Use a version of 1.1.1 that you already have on your computer when you downgrade.
