Apple silently updates MacBooks and MacBook Pros

Thanks for the heads up, Apple! The company has gone ahead and updated their MacBook and MacBook Pro portable lines. Nothing crazy here, but some decent processor and video card upgrades nonetheless. The MacBooks now runs on the Intel Santa Rosa platform, and are available with 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo and 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo processor configurations. All MacBooks now also have an integrated GMA X3100 video card, an 800 MHz front side bus, and support for up to 4GB of RAM. The MacBook Pro line received an even more modest bump, with the addition of a 2.6 GHz BTO option topping the list. All MacBook Pro hard drives now spin at 5400 RPM or more, too. Prices remain identical for the MacBooks, with the top of the line Macbook Pro sporting a $250 2.6 GHz upgrade option. These are all available right away. Enjoy!

But still it’s hard to find 10.5 on retail store sold macs. I mean, you’d think they’d deal with that tiny logistics problem first.

They drop in the disk for Leopard but they aren’t going to open boxes and install at the stores.

So does this mean the Pro’s won’t freeze when closing something?

I mean c’mon I was using a brand new best of the best 17 inch Macbook Pro yesterday morning and it froze on me 2 times in one hour for like 5-10 minutes each time. I haven’t had that happen to me since I used the shitty old model iMacs. For around 3grand I would expect something better than that.
