Google rolling out Gmail 2.0…quietly

Much like the recently-introduced and much-beloved IMAP support for Gmail, Google is now rolling out what only rumored to be true a month ago: version 2.0. It’s a definite rollout, as not everyone has access to it yet, but it’s got a slightly new look, and many are claiming increased speeds and improved contact management. To see if you’ve got access to it, check the upper-right between "Settings" and "Help" for a new/old version toggle. So far, we don’t have it on our accounts…do you?

huh..I don’t have access to it yet..Which is kinda strange…I’ve had gmail since it was invite only!!

I call shenanigans! No such things showing up yet, and my invite email dates to 6/2004.

I have it in 1 of my 4 gmail accounts. It’s on one that I rarely use and I didn’t notice much difference between versions.
I only took a quick glance.

Not here yet…. but I still don’t have IMAP. So much for benefits of being an early adopter.

wierd, i have the newer/older toggle link in Firefox, not in IE. I did notice some new features when you mouse over a contact in an email, but when I go to the contacts menu, the right pane becomes blank.

Mine defaulted to IMAP and messed up my BlackBerry setup.

Ummm… Version 2?? Aren’t we still waiting for the service to come out of BETA!?!

Got the upgrade to 2.0. Doesn’t seem that different.
Mine also defaulted to IMAP. I wish they would have waited for me to select it. It messed up my Blackberry setup too. I would have changed over eventually anyway, but like I said, would have been nice to have the option

I don’t have a new/old toggle, but I do have an IMAP option in my settings. Better check there.

I have it…..and so can you. For older version, your URL will look like:
http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1
Change it to:
http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2#inbox

I have it. The only thing new i noticed is that it alot faster. It use to take about a minute to pull up my mail but now its up as soon as i hit sign-in. =]. And i dont think it has anything to do with signup date becuase my account is less than a year old.
