AOL launches My Mobile for Windows Mobile devices
AOL has just launched a mobile service client exclusively for Windows Mobile devices. The software looks very similar to Yahoo’s GO Mobile, sporting integrated search, maps, email, news, pictures, and more. It looks great, and should be a welcome addition to any device, but its complete lack of AIM integration means that you’ll still have to look elsewhere for your IM needs. That would be fine if there was a stable and functional AIM solution for Windows Mobile, but given the barren playing field, AOL could have brought the house down with an integrated IM solution. Ah well. Something is better than nothing, right? The software should be available shortly as a free download, but you’ll need an AOL account to get up and running.

OMG…no seems to get this AIM stuff right…not even AOL themselves.
at this pace they should release a decent aim app in a year or so..
Yeah seriously. It took, what, 2 days for the first iPhone AIM app to be released?
After buying Time-Warner, I guess they ran out of money to do any software development.
Considering the only official AIM client is some beta from the UK from years ago, AOL might catch on to the mobile “thing” by next century.
Palm would have better chances.
And people wonder why Sidekicks are still around.
Good point William. I wonder what AOL project manager said, “AIM? That program everybody uses on their computers? Nah, nobody wants that on their phones. Who IM’s on their phone???”
The AOL MyMobile app shown at CTIA was a preview, and did not include all features that will be in the Beta launch. AIM is definitely seen as a key feature and will be included in MyMobile.
