First Look: BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.3
We will start this article off by stating this is subject to change prior to public release, however, here’s your first look at BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.3! We’ve not yet fully uncovered what it’s capable of, although from first impressions, it doesn’t look like much more than a visual upgrade of the initial application view, as well as an updated version of Intellisync. Also bundled with this version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager is an update to Roxio Media Manager, now sporting some advanced encoding options and enhanced support for other video formats.
No word on a release date, but with the BlackBerry 8120 being recently launched with OS 4.3.0, we’d have to think that BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.3 will follow at some point soon thereafter. Then again, we have yet to hear about the BlackBerry 8120 actually being available from any of the pre-launch and launch carriers in Europe (Telefonica/Spain, TIM/Italy and O2/UK), so who knows.
Rest of the shots, after the break!

Looks good! I do have to ask though, BG runs Vista?! Sigh……
I like the new look but am disappointed it takes up so much screen space, is there an option to scale down the interface so it’s not as intrusive?

I have to point out that I recently got a 8820 and the desktop manager did not have the Roxio Media Manager on the CD I was supplied with but after downloading the most recent 4.2 desktop software it was available in that version. So if you want the Roxio Media Manager which does all the conversions ect. you can get that in a 4.2 version.
But yea I definitly like the look much better, before it was functional but just looked and felt really cheaply coded even though it really wasn’t the case. Kinda like a mansion with orange shag carpet. Nice house, bad decor.
I only wish blackberry would expand the OS availability. I keep a disk loaded with XP just so I can use certain software but primarily use Ubuntu Linux day to day. This isn’t just a RIM problem.. Alot of companies need to do this.

Hmm I just hope it works with Lotus Notes 8. I miss my contacts sync. RIMs tech support suggests returning to 7. It does look pretty though…

RIM will NOT be releasing OS 4.3.0 for ANY device EXCEPT the 8120. Expect OS 4.3.1 to drop early next year.

Hey Tdawg00, its Vista. The window control is not part of the application. Yeah Desktop Manger has a new look, but those Windows controls are all Vista elements, so either they are using a Vista skin in XP, MAC or a Linux rel, or they use Vista.
I’m going with BGR uses Windows Vista.
That is all.

I’m using Desktop Manager 4.3 right now with my 8130 (and it works with the 8830 too.) Build 15 (August 15). My guess is that RTM build will ship in the box with the 8130 when released.
