Leopard comes October 26th
The rumors, speculation, and lies can now be put to rest. Apple has officially announced that the newest version of its operating system, dubbed OS X Leopard, will be available for public consumption on the 26th of October at 6:00PM. The more astute among us will note that we’re only 10 days away. Good lookin, Apple. iPhones, iPods, and new iMacs are all well and good, but the launch of a new operating system is a pretty big event, and one we’re not inclined to take lightly. The company has promised more than 300 new features and improvements. Sounds good, but from what we’ve seen it looks like Apple will have a bit of a challenge convincing us that this bit of code is worth both the $129 price tag and the inevitable software incompatibilities that go along with a new OS. As always, however, we’ll reserve final judgement until we can get our hands on the little purple box. Who’s gonna be waiting in line after work on the 26th?

@BGR: “Who’s gonna be waiting in line after work on the 26th?”
Not me
I’ve pre-ordered at store.apple.com and am putting blind faith in their “delivers on October 26″ statement.
Time to get a MacBook Pro. Been waiting for 6 months, now the time has come.
same here bluehorseshoe,
been waiting to sell my powerbook and get a macbook. looks like the time is now.
Ordering overnight from amazon should mean I get it when? is saturday counted as a day?
I asked Amazon about that and could not get a straight answer (email and phone support said “November 1″ despite my protestations that Apple had released the Oct 26 date today) but yet their site says “ships on Oct 26.”
To cover my bases I placed my order at store.apple.com, which says “delivery on 10/26.”
Good luck.
i’m a Windows guy but after seeing Leopard preview a few months ago, i’ve been waiting for this day to come. i can’t wait to have my MacBook Pro 17inch with all the bells and whistles!
Cheers!
So what exactly is so great about the Leopard deal anyways? Same goes for that advertising slogan, who ever though of that should consider being shot.

lists the new features & improvements. Looks good to me.
And I do agree with you about the slogan, pretty bad.
BTW How’s the Tilt treating you?
Awesome, just awesome.
You really should get one.
nah, im happy with the iphone. only thing i wish it had would be 3G but there isnt any 3G ATT near me so no reason to upgrade now. Plus i dont really like WM.
But the GPS on googlemaps is really sweet and some day you’ll have 3G and that’s when you’ll be like “Jeff B. was right I really do want 3.8 mbps internet on my cell phone.”
I know you want it.
You don’t have to admit it but deep down, I know your like man I really want that Tilt.
Just playin’ but it is reeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllly sick.
nah, i had GPS on my blackberry and have wifi for my faster data. Without 3G here thats the best i would get with the Tilt anyways. I’m guessing that a 3G iPhone will be out before 3G to my area (middle of next year-3G).
I do think the Tilt is a great device though, especially if you get the video chat feature going.
