BlackBerry Curve 8310 Unboxing

It seems it was just a couple days ago that we were making predictions on the BlackBerry Curve series and what sort of features it would sport. Would it have GPS? Would it have Wi-Fi? Would it have GPS and Wi-Fi? By now, we know the answers, but nevertheless, there have been a ton of people annoyed at the fact that they left GPS behind when they switched from the BlackBerry 8800 to the BlackBerry Curve. While not officially available from AT&T yet, the BlackBerry Curve 8310 has started showing up in stores across the country. The launch date looks like tomorrow October 16th, so get ready. In the meantime, check out our photos of the Crimson-colored device!

UPDATE: There seems to be a lot more contrast on the 8310’s screen. Not sure if I love it or hate it yet. Will post some comparison pics shortly.

    The progression of the dirtying of the trackball just gave me a palpitation!

    That is not something I look forward to, I may spray that little nugget with teflon or something!

    Thanks for posting this. I’m unfortunately not eligible for an upgrade, but hopefully the full price won’t be so painful… does anyone know the full price?

    Can confirm the GPS is not locked to TeleNav. Downloaded Google Maps (for 8310) OTA, and it works fine with GPS. Haven’t tried BlackBerry Maps yet, but me thinks we might have to edit some files to get that working.

    Is the web browser on a blackberry as good as the windows mobile with opera?

    And TeleNav looks nice but is it significantly better than google maps or blackberry maps?

    bb8310+telenav=perfection… you can use googleMaps, but why? GoogleMaps lacks the most important feature, and thats Voice NAVIGATION! Big whoop-di-do googlemaps does satellite view… who cares…

    @Jeff B.

    If you meant AT&T then they got two (at least now they do, apparently), one of those in the pic is a TMo Curve. If you meant the US GSM carriers, then they’ve got four, two colors on each carrier.

    But I totally agree on the sharing part, I seriously want a Curve 8320 on Sprint…

    You said locked like most AT&T does. What device has AT&T launched with GPS built in and was locked?

    BB 8800 had GPS unlocked
    AT&T Tilt has GPS unlocked

    I was just curious. Oh and the 8310 hit stores today. At least the ones in my neighborhood.

    Shame AT&T stinks when it comes to service and cost. While tempting, I’m not sure of it’s enough to replace my Pearl. Think I may sit back and wait for the real Pearl 2 with wifi, etc.
