Mac Mini gets EOL’d

Doubtful that the Mac Mini is close to getting replaced? Take a look at this…Apple Insider, the Cal Ripken of Apple tip sites, is reporting that the Mac Mini has received its marching orders, getting close to an official End of Life designation from the boys in Cupertino. Shipments have slowed down significantly, and Apple is apparently telling some of its 3rd party retailers that they shouldn’t expect any new shipments of the headless Mac. Could this mean that a "Mac Nano" is on its way? Its certainly possible. On the other hand, it makes sense for Apple to slow down shipments of systems with Tiger pre-installed in anticipation of having to ship the new Leopard machines in short order.     I own a Mac Mini and love it. I’m not a fan of the all in one imac, if it needs repair, you have to send the whole thing in, what a pain in the ass. I really hope the rumor of a optical drive less Mac Nano aren’t true. I don’t think people really want another dongle sitting on their desk.

    i’m all for the optical less mac, at least for a mini replacement. I have very little use for optical drives any more.

    This rumour about the “Mac nano” is vapor-ware! The mac nano was supposed to have come out in Oct 07. It is now Jan 08– 3 months later– and no word of the Mac nano. I
