Verizon offers “Worry Free Guarantee” beginning this week

"Worry Free" and "Cell phone contract" rarely go hand in hand, but Verizon is looking to set the bar a little higher. The company is launching their "Worry Free Guarantee" this week, offering existing customers the opportunity to change their wireless plans without re-upping their contract. The offer also allows for a full 30-day service trial period, and the offer of a free phone every two years for customers on a rate plan of $34.95 or higher. The latter two offers have been around for a while, but it’s nice to see a comprehensive package of customer service guarantees. Granted, Sprint has had a similar offer in place for a while, but given Sprint’s complete inability to provide an adequate level of customer service, we’re glad to see that Verizon has stepped up to the plate here.

T-mobile has allowed you to switch plans whenever you want for years. You can also take different packages on and off at any time and they will gladly pro-rate your bill.

Cingular/AT&T has allowed you to change plans up and down for ages now without affecting your contract. And they have had a 30 day trial period for a long time too.

And a new phone every two years? Don’t all of the companies do this too? You just re-up your contract and they give you a new phone at the subsidized rate.

I’m amazed the positive coverage this has been getting — when in reality they are just coming up to speed with other carriers.

I knew I’d see some people on here who will hate on Verizon no matter what.

I’ve got T-Mo and Verizon and I love them both. Neither of them is perfect but when I wanted to make a phone call from the inner hallways of the Wachovia Center Arena in Philly, guess which phone worked.

Sounds pretty sweet, but if Verizon can do that then why can’t att provide me with my Tilt?
Damnit, I have probably been one of the people most anxious to get their grubby little mits on one.

    VZWguy says:

you can actually upgrade your phone every 20 months. and you could always add or remove features at any time without extending yrou contract, it used to be the only way to extend your contract was change your minutes….now that is changed, so nothing extends your contract.

and they always prorated the bill to reflect the changes.

so i have no idea were the mass of misinformation you guys get around here is..but there is the rest of the story.

    db,
It doesn’t matter if I slit the “hoes” at my store cause they don’t have any Tilts there anyways and the guy that’s helping me to get one is pretty nice so if somebody could get me the address to corporate…you wouldn’t go unheard either name a phone and I’ve got it ready for ya.

Do some research before you post.

Adrian Said:”Cingular/AT&T has allowed you to change plans up and down for ages now without affecting your contract.”
WRONG – Change your plan to one of the new ATT plans and see what happens.

Adrian Said:”And they have had a 30 day trial period for a long time too.”
WRONG – Verizon is the only company that waives your charges during the 30 days.

Adrian Said:”And a new phone every two years? Don’t all of the companies do this too? You just re-up your contract and they give you a new phone at the subsidized rate.”
WRONG – Verizon gives you below “subsidized rate” phone every 20 months.

Actually I think Verizon offers $100.00 towards a new phone every two years. I dont think they give you a free one.

let me define how T-Mobile works
you can change plan freely in my t-mobile
exception: with plans with asterisk (*), which is promotional, that requires contract extension
or add a number with your account
but there’s another plus, T-Mobile is more willing to support unlocked phones, that’s SECOND TO NONE!

Here’s a crazy thought…how about Verizon offering competitive pricing plans like the other carriers (TMO?), then there wouldn’t be a need to change the plan in the middle of the contract, etc.

    Here’s a thought:
TMO customer service and rates + Verizon coverage and high speed network = Best Cellular Company

    Wouldn’t even have any competition.

    Mike says:

Just wanted to point this out:

I’ve been through the whole “30 Day Trial Period” with Verizon. Twenty one days in I decided to cancel, having already begun another contract with AT&T. I did not need/want the VZW number since it was given as a temp. until I decided if I wanted to keep service.

I call their CS department, and am informed that the “30 Day Trial Period” only applies to customers who are actually porting their number to another carrier.

Long story short: They will pay for all your calls and fees…so long as you actually take the number to another carrier. (I assume most people will do this, but in my case I was mis-informed at the point of sale and got stuck with the charges.)

As far as the no contract extension rate plan changes, this is merely a step in the direction that most companies have already taken. To my knowledge, AT&T WILL extend you when switching rate plans. T-Mobile will prorate your contract if you change after 1 yr. (EX: You change plans after 14 months; they extend your contract 2 months). Can’t speak for Sprint, but I know companies like U.S. Cellular and Alltel have been marketing this ability to switch sans contract extension for years.

    Adrian says:

lefty, don’t know what to tell you, I’ve changed my plan a few times mid-contract and never had it extend my contract. I do remember them telling me once that if I switched to a newer plan with some promotional feature, it would extend.

Once I switched to a plan which included unlimited canada and mexico, but then ended up not needing it and switch back to my old plan — and that did not extend.

And in the end, I like T-Mobile and AT&T better because you can use unlocked phones — one of which I am using right now, a Nokia N75.
